the cup also uses a larger middle radiator than the GT3 uses, its about double the size.
Neil, I think your right , looking at the parts diagram the upper frame is reversed in comparison to the standard mounting - that probably accounts for about 30mm of forward tilt. That probably also explains why I needed to cut recesses in the side rad air scoops. Now it's done though, I don't plan on changing it back!, I suspect the extra tilt will have the rad cooling fins redirecting the air flow upwards. Good spot though, I will add some comments to the web page as well.

From personal experience on my 996GT3 (with fully functioning vents):
1. Car ran noticeably cooler. Not measured but needle was consistently cooler than before mod.
2. At speed front end seemed to be more stable.
On current 7RS, (With after market GEMBALLA carbon fiber hood). Heat has no effect as it does not get that hot. However, the hood latch (metal loop) can get quite warm to touch.
Thanks D-Uber - appreciate that experience and the note re the hood latch - makes sense. Did you notice impact on track times/speeds at all?

OZ951 - any idea about how your uber-tilt is working ie is more better? The website update looks good - keen to hear more as ever - ps that was your 1500th post! Nice 'one'.

HiWind,
Shortly after mod was complete traded 6GT3 for 7.1RS. Therefore can't provide any hard numbers for lower temp, higher speed or lower lap times. As stated prior, did attain consistent lower temps and experienced a less nervous front at speed. Unfortunetly, my lap times where comical so can't comment on any improvement.

Thumbs up

Right, thanks. I'm most interested in the downforce side of it

Hmm new mod.. the uber tilt mod.

It's a bit early to tell, I've only managed a couple of local test drives due to my rebuilding my front struts (swapping from aluminium bodies to steel bodies) after doing the bumper mod and stripping out airbags & speakers and installing a 997 SSK yesterday.

Proper test drive can be done in about 2 weeks when I get the geometry done by a UK specialist and my first track day for 2012 is in late Jan. So hopefully there will be some positive feedback then.

I haven't noticed any issues though so that good. Temp was running under 80 whereas its usually a tad over 80 but that was just the one drive in traffic.

Oulton Park. I need to start getting the Intrax suspension dialled in. I haven't driven Oulton before so that will give me a few clues about the track as well as dialling in the suspension before the RS day.

Doing it this way means that you can really feel the extra front downforce over about 120mph.
Is this the rear 'chimney' but angled down for turbo (item #18 in picture)?

Its all about front end downforce. And, apparently, it works well.
