Just call Jea Lee at Mirage he did a great job with mine used stock bumper and made the brackets to tilt rad and made the screens and it was very reasonable.

[QUOTE=911SLOW;8877695]The manthey "cooling kit" costs 270EUR for parts that really cost 27EUR..
Save your money and buy them from your local hardware store.
+100 for the DIY advice. I just bought the Manthey kit and it's pretty lame for almost 500 Euros (incl shipping) Anyways, it's a winter project for me as well. The search for front downforce continues.

Three Wheelin'
Does anyone happen to have the measurements for the outside diameter of the hose joiners that are required for this job? I'll have to mail order some joiners and a bit of extra coolant hose so it would be nice to have them on hand before starting the job.

An option on the hose extentions, no extentions. Just flip the radiator position so that the coolant inlet and outlets that are currently on the top to the bottom. It's closer to factory and when you drain radiator all coolant will come out.

That's not a bad idea, I don't imagine that would have a huge cooling impact since the vertical extent of the radiator is pretty limited.

No BS, this how we did it on my 6GT3. Once completed (the correct fully functional way) front felt more planted at speed, ran cooler and retained a more factory look.

If you are going to all the trouble of cutting the PU & canting the middle rad forward, you should really do the job properly & remove item 13 above to fit the full 996 GT2 radiator mounting kit & rear "chimney" to direct the hot air through the PU vents.
Doing it this way means that you can really feel the extra front downforce over about 120mph.

Strange thing is, on my 6RS I am certain those lower vents came sealed from factory.

What was there?
Hey Dan - I might be misunderstanding but are you saying the four holes facing down, behind the spliiter ie under the bumper were originally closed? Do you supect that you lost something at some point? Mine are open and car only has 18k kms on it. This project will be my first body-altering mod but it makes solid sense based on data posted earlier (thanks all! )
