Default rear brake rotors

I know there are multiple posts on this and I have read a lot of these however I need new rear rotors fairly quickly and I would like to know if there is an opinion about what to buy. The car is pretty much stock, no ceramic brakes and on the front I have the cayenne rotors. Thank you very much

Ron I installed the girodisc rotors after I got fed up with the ceramics. So far the girodiscs have been great, 14 days and the fronts look pretty good, the rears great. What really suprises me is I've still got about 1/2 the pad thickness left on the original set of pads, pagid yellows. Prior to the giros I'd go through a set of pads in less than two days.

Cheers, John

I'd get a set of 997 GT3 rear calipers and then you can use the 14" rear rotors. Does make a difference. Just a thought... Otherwise there are a number of alternatives to stock like Zimmerman, et al. I have seen them from $75 to $150. Stock list at $183 (Suncoast sells for $290 for pair). For the money I would just get stock. The 14" upgrade is pretty sweet though....

Stock or rear 996 GT3 cup rotors work as well, which I think are cheaper?

What about the 997 cup rear rotor (350mm) with a 10mm spacer under the caliper?

Rear 997 turbo rotor might work as well? (not sure about this one)

I second the Girodisc option; the rears are 350 mm (like the front) and use the stock calipers (with spacers) and stock e-brake. Stop like the hand of God and wear very well.

PCCB cars had a 350mm rear rotor so I use the 997 Cup rear rotors. Even though they have holes, they don't crack anywhere near as fast as the front ones do.

My rear calipers for my Girodiscs (I love mine as well) are not shimmed (maybe due to Allan's post above), but have no problems.

^ but that was originally a PCCB car?

Mine was not so I anticipate shimming the caliper, but will check to see if it works without. Likely will not happen this year, but that is the plan.

Yep; mine was, but thought all rotors were the same across PCCB and non-PCCB cars; perhaps not.

PCCB cars are set up for 350mm rear rotors.
non-PCCB cars are set up for 330mm rear rotors.

Is anyone really having an issue with OEM cross-drilled? I've been using the factory rear rotors for years on the GT3 and years before that on the 996. They last forever and are pretty cheap.
