Does the monoball in the upper mount ever wears out ? if yes, how can you tell looking at the part itself ?
I am about to purchase some and wanted to know how to evaluate the life of them without having to mount them on the car and go for a drive

There should be no discernible movement in the mono ball except rotation within the socket. You cannot tell by looking at them, unless there is pitting of the ball, in which case they are done. If they make a "clunking" sound, then you also know they are done, however, that sound can be made by many parts, so it is not necessarily diagnostic of a mono ball failure. Some can be rebuilt, but I have never rebuilt one.
