Talking 1/4 Strip (and Cleaning Pics)

Was cleaning up the GT3 after my track event from last weekend, and pulled the trunk carpet, just because. I couple thin pieces of carpet and plastic, and that's it!

Still up on stands and cover on while I wait for my new studs (link) to arrive; previous ones (link) rusted.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

That piece of rubber by front hood lock is(not the weather trim that surrounds border) removable too- 1.5 lb loss : ). Beautiful!!! Don't try to remove carpet inside next thing nothing inside- very liberating. Mike

Be careful Scott, that's how it starts

Two weeks ago, I removed the foam tray and tools cause, frankly, I'm not going to need that. Well, I got a strange sense of satisfaction from just removing these few pounds

Props for the clean underpinnings

So none of the carpet are glued on at all? Just all clipped on and easily reversible?!

You too, be careful That's how you get sucked in, the first ones are "easily reversible"...

Yeah; the trunk was just too easy; no glue, just a few push pins, and screws for the plastic bits. Not going anywhere near the interior though.

What are you using to keep the wheels wheels so clean? I've tried Simple Green, to Goof Off and I can't get the rubber marks and tar off the painted part.

Hi Mike. Nothing special really; rinse thoroughly with a hose first, liberally spray an off the shelf degreaser in the area (careful of the aluminum bits) (I'm using DuraGloss 401 General Cleaner from forever ago), let it set for a couple minutes, then go in everywhere I can reach with a sponge and soapy carwash water, being careful of the hydraulic lines and what not, rinse thoroughly.

I am hesitant to suggest you try something stronger, but try to find maybe a 'concentrated' cleaner and give that a shot.

FWIW, this is only the 2nd time I've done this kind of cleaning on the GT3; I typically don't have lot of rubber bits in there; mostly minor road grime, dirt, and some rubber marks/scuffs.

I was talking to a friend at an autox yesterday about his RSA. He's getting that beast lighter and lighter. Fantastic car. Then I thought about my bloated pig in my garage....need to install my Race Keeper data logger system this week so I wonder what'll happen to the interior pieces that will be in the way? These kind of threads might push me over the edge.

Curious what the carpet weighs; can't recall. Other than that, you'd have to do a strip job like mooty or Mike I think to see real differences; doors, A/C, glass, etc.

There is a cool factor to consider though.

Hmmm; free time today and tomorrow.....
