Pretty hard to add anything to the above but for me, for you (per your stated facts), in order...
1- Mich PS2 (can't go wrong, excellent all around)
2- P Zero Corsas (size?, excellent all around, great wear, loved them last year on 19, but a bit challenging to your frugality)
3- Mich Sport Cups (more susceptible to hydro-planning, excellent dry perf, the gold standard... I think)
David, you have 2 sets of wheels. What is on your street wheels at the moment, and what shape are they in? If they are ok, just use those. That'll buy you time to figure out what to put on your track wheels. And even if they are worn and need replacement, well, just replace them. One track weekend will not kill whatever you put on there. Again, will buy you time to figure out what to do, and also will make it easier for you should you decide to get some stickies for the track.
I went through this process this year also, being my first year on the GT3 with 18s. Was hoping for Nittos because of the excellent comments, sizing, and lower price... in the US (in Canada, they are as much $$ as the Cups).
Ended up with the Cups cause you just can't go wrong with Cups, and they are certainly a known quantity on the GT3. Yeah, I'm aware of the wet challenges, but will deal with that in due time, in my own very cautious way.
I do trailer, otherwise, I would have shopped for the PS2s or Corsas. What does Touchette carry? Don't discount the value of building a relationship with a preferred *local* supplier.

With 9" fronts and 12" rears you really have only 1 choice Michelin PS2's. If you run 11" rears you can run Yokohama AD08's 235/40 295/30 18 which is a much better street/track tire.

Call me crazy but I don't think an NT01 or RA1, or R888 is really calling for trouble on the street. I've not used NT01s in the rain, but have seen them run by others. I've run Toyos and they are excellent in the rain.
Personally I'd stay away from the R6 if you need to drive to the track. All others would be fine - just don't shave them. Sounds like you're not new to the track, just new to the car. If anything a more aggressive tire will be slightly more forgiving your first time out.

I used to drive NT01 to and from the track, several hundred miles in each direction, but I live in SoCal where rain is rare. If I were in Canada and based on the level of experience and time with this car, I would run street tires. The worse thing is to look forward to a track weekend and have to worry about "will they let me out on the track or not" depending on what tires you have on your car.
RA1 at full tread is your best bet, but I think they are hard to find due to the quake in Japan (I'm making this statement based on the fact that our Spec series calls for RA1 and the racers just can't find them -- lack of production).

Hey guys, thank-you for your feedback.
I have forgone the idea of Hoosiers or Kumhos on account of the advice received here.
With that said, with several BMWCCC events, Trackmasters, ICar Academy, and BASI (ff1600) school completed over the course of several years, I'm really hoping that at least a few of you gurus will endorse my purchase of NT01s. Tough crowd.![order](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/order.gif)

How hard will people laugh at a HANS wearing green driver?

Yeah like others have mentioned. I did not know u were abit green : ) so get the best street tire or best rcomp for wet weather shindigs. Hoosiers/kuhmos are not fun in the wet unless u like to improve on car control skills ie parking lot not track : ). But once u reach that level u gotta try the hoosiers/kuhmos. Mike

I'm one of the few that wears a Hans religiously in Rennsport.
Noone will laugh but your instructor may be scared.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Save the R-Comps for later. Trust me on this. Learn how the car behaves on street tires and eventually you will be getting the car to do things you've only dreamed of.
It will make you a better driver.
There is an RSR member who drives a stock 996 GT3. At Watkins Glen on worn Sport Cups he was passing Cup Cars on slicks and laughing while he was doing it.

You'll have fun on NT01s.
We don't hate, just trying to make sure you have fun and stay safe! Who cares about people laughing? Wear the Hans, you never know how it may come in handy.
I was at the track this last weekend and ran with a guy in a 996 Turbo. He gave me a pass and tried to keep up. On the front straight, going in to 1, his brakes let go. Thank god I saw him and went straight to give him room to slow down. It worked out in the end, but what if it didn't? Well, I was wearing my Hans, just to be safe.
