Does nobody use theirs for spirited mountain/canyon drives? Is it not fun for that use? Only driven one briefly and didn't get to push too hard...

That's all I use mine for now. I'd say I was 50/50 before it became strictly a street machine.

+1 The odd time I'll take it to Home Depot or Costco just for fun.

Not me. Sure, it'll be fun for that use but in my area you'll get in a lot of trouble in a hurry. Go 40km/h over the limit here and the cops will take the car away for a week and fine you $2400, lose your license, etc. Not worth it. The thing is, when you get behind the wheel of this kind of car you will want to rev the engine to the redline. It feels so "right". Problem is that will get you in lots of trouble.

Cheers,

Not much street use.. but I do drive it to track, to service, etc. So it still has more street miles than track miles.. (some tracks are far away.. !!)

Everytime I take it out on the street I get back pissed because I can't avoid the numerous potholes on Michigan roads. So for the moment track is the only place to have fun with GT3 ('til I move back to Deutschland next year)

+1..

I now have an M3 Race Car so my GT3 is getting less track time and subsequently more street to stay "lubed up"

Dave - Are you going to Mid Ohio with Chin? Saw somebody registered with a GT3 from Cumming, GA.

Dave,
the video is awesome and your GT3 sounds really sensational ! This is the kind of road driving that I'm missing - looks like a cool gathering of Rennlisters. What kind of exhaust do you have on the car ?

Yes I am..
I'll be there the Sat-Sun W/ BMW Racing the M3
Mon-Tues w/ the GT3 w/ Chin..
Are you going? If so do you have the means of bringing an extra car? I'm still working out the logistics of bringing both cars.

Yes it was a large gathering of R-Listers mainly from the 7GT3 Forum as you can see by the pictures. This was only a couple of weeks ago.

The Exhaust is a custom set-up from ASP in Seattle done by the PO. It is Headers on back with a center exhaust. Thanks for the compliments.. It sounds & feels good..

Dave - I'll be up there for 5 days. Trying to get practice in for NASA nationals this year. Unfortunately, can't help with logistics, bringing two cars up there myself.

Checked my log and most miles on my GT3/996 are to and from the track (Blackhawk Farms, The Autobahn and Road America average about about 200 miles round trip), next is miles on track (about 100 miles per track day), last is on the road in between track days, some weeks 100 miles other weeks none. Over the past 12 months that is 9 track days: 1800 miles travel to/from track 900 miles on track and another 500 miles for street driving. Total Miles 3200, 56% track travel, 28% on track, 16% on road. I try to avoid interstate highways to and from the track when I have time so about half of those miles are on secondary roads. I go through a pair of rear MPSC per year and fronts last two years. Street PS2 still look good after 4 years, with only about 2500 miles on them.
