In terms of performance no, in all other yes..

Keep the 6.. if you can buy a clean mk1 or an RS and put them in the cellar then pls do so.
Take them out in 2030 and show the world how it was back in the day.. : )

If I ever retire I would love to just collect 996 gt3's. It's that special to me. It rewards me everytime I'm at track and it's the 1st of it's breed in the US. Certainly doesn't have the typical look of a pure 911
but it drives like one. There's not one car that breeds confidence in a driver as well as questioning what I'm getting into- it'll buck u as u doing something wrong but man such a reward when u do it right. Can't wait to retire : ). Mike

The GT3 is probably the best track ever, period.
One of the main differences with ALL other Porsches is that it is not sn improved basic Carrera, like all models from the basic to the turbo.
The GT3 is a Cup Car adapted down to street level for homologation of the Cup.
BIG differences with the other Porsches: line welding for the frame, use of special racing resistant metals such as magnesium, for better resistance to heat, track use and less weight.

The few 05 ( about 100 made ) were not a left over of 04. They were manufactured in 05 until the 7GT3 was ready to roll out of the doors.

For those interested, I am getting a Cup so i have a "winning" 6GT3 for sale advertised in this forum at 62k, perfectly maintained and absolutely loaded with the right goodies...

If you are referring to my comment about "leftover" then the explanation must needs further elaboration as I see it could have been interpreted wrong. They were not unsold 04's that got labeled as 05's. They were orders that were sold and the production period dictated model 05 marking. PAG dictated the small number (about 100 coming to us) to procure the last orders and they went into the end of 04 and early 05 for delivery. Obviously my term "leftover" was a poor choice and could have used more elaboration.

ps. glws of your track beast. that is a stunner

.
Leftovers for sure.. they even throw 993 springs on them..
(part number was 993.343.531.95)

I agree. Their spring choice is suspect when they put these together. To much of a catering to street driving. Easy and cheap upgrade is better springs and revavled shocks.

Dell as a reminder, the norm is:

new guy comes asking for GT3 info

we convince him that this is the right car

then he buys it

we give him two weeks of freedom

then we drag him down with us with the "safety" mods.

Deal?
