Most economical PCCB replacement option
I've done a bunch of searching and there's a lot of info available, but much of it is a few years old and it is difficult to follow. So I thought I would ask the question here.
I'm in the market for a 996 GT3. I'm considering a car with PCCB, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to want to swap them out and and switch to conventional brakes (maybe immediately or maybe once I need replacement pads or rotors).
I see lots of expensive looking options being discussed. But if I was looking for the most economical option, what would it be. Assume I'll be doing 3-4 DE events per year, and a fair amount of driving on the street. I'm a PCA instructor - I had a highly modified 968 for several years (big brakes, coilovers, cage, etc.). But then I sold it and took some time away from the track. I'm looking to get back into it, and a 996 GT3 is what I want to drive.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, welcome fellow NJersian! I'm currently running Centric rotors upfront from an 04 Cayenne Turbo. About $78 ea. Only thing missing is the hole to hold rotor against hub, but that is no big deal. I had them on my car and drove 11 days on track between my wife and me. Seem to be holding up well.
Rears I went with 07 Cup rotors about $375 ea at TRG. You loose a little surface area from your parking brake since they are more open for cooling, but no big deal. I was at Paul Miller last year and noticed that Panamera Turbo had same rear size brakes as GT3 w/PCCB. Eventually those will also make it in the aftermarket and hopefully they would fit. Only question would be hat offsets.
Those re the most inexpensive options I found. I also instruct with NNJR, BMW, PDA and Ferrari. You can sell rotors to support your track habit! PM if you have additional questions. Regards, Lou

Hey Lou,
What size are the Cayenne turbo rotors? Same as the OEM GT3 rotors? I need new rotors before spring and was thinking of going between OEM non-ceramic and cup rotors up front. Curious about the ones you mentioned. Where in NJ are you from? Need to meet up this year.
How's the search coming, Mike?

Mike, pads are the same for both PCCB & non PCCB brakes, I'm still using the OEM pads from PCCBs until they wear off, when will move to PFC 06.
Cayenne T rotors are 350x34mm, perfect fit except for missing hole to holt it against hub. Panamera Turbo rears are 350x28mm (do not know about offset of hat, but economies of production would make it likely that they would match the GT3's rears)
I'm in Bridgewater... Later!

+1 All of the above is the most cost effective approach and the one I also use. If you want the correct securing holes in the front rotors I would look @ the slotted rotors Rick Deman sells.

If you want floating rotors with aluminum hats - several pounds lighter than OEM btw, the Giros I have for under 2400 (& FREE freight) for the 4 wheel set (PM or e-mail me) are a top quality way to go, made for the GT3.

They called me and I have spoke with Solomon about the rotors. Currently, we only have full assemblies in stock... So, we have placed the order for the replacements. Thanks for the referral. Feel free to give me a call anytime.
