Default Trailering 996 GT3

Has anyone tried trailering a 996 GT3 with a trailer from uhaul? Any experiences (besides Uhaul's general incompetence) would be appreciated. Esp concerned re ground clearance. Thanks.

I looked at it, but the GT3 is too low.

I have seen it done but you need lots of wood blocks to raise the car up and to get it on

Too much rigging to get a sports car on and off is really risky. If you are trying to do a temporary transport of the car sometimes you can rent an open car trailer from a trailer dealer.

I wouldn't recommend it as the approach angle is far too steep for the front spoiler. You would need to get very creative with wood blocks... Personally, I chose to buy a steel trailer for a 3-month period and ended up selling it for a 20% loss. For my 3 month need, this was far more economical than a UHaul...

Some trailer companies rent their trailers, so that may be worth the effort...

Good luck.

The buy and sell option that 'blake' suggested works.

Well you better figure something out, I'm not letting you drive my car this weekend! Maybe you should just drive it out. Save the money on the trailer, get yourself a good radar detector, you'll be here in no time flat.

I have used Uhaul trailers several times with no problems at all. They are defintely not the ideal trailer solution but certainly can work in a pinch.

You do have to use some sort of blocks because the normal ramp angle is too steep for the 996 GT3. I used a 4' long 2x8 on top of a 6' long 2x8 and it barely works.

You'll also want a 2x8 block where your front wheel is on the trailer so the front lip of your car doesn't scrape the end of the trailer.

The trailer is pretty heavy so make sure you have a tow vehicle that can handle it.

Good luck!
