Are Prices on Used GT3's Really Back?
Just saw this ad in Auto Trader. This car "looks" clean but is pricing really back to this level? if so, it's about time, but for what ever my 2 cents is worth, i think not.
thoughts or observations?

the guy must be crazy, I have been looking at gt3 prices and people are willing to work on their prices. Nice car though but it'll be a hard sale at 70k

The market is definitely a bit stronger than it was a year or two ago. But that is almost 997 money. I think the deals are still out there but the low mile cars are getting harder to find as everyone drives their cars.
It will be interesting to see what the market is like a few years from now when the 997's have depreciated a bit more. I love the purity of the 996 but I think I'd be hard pressed to pick one over a 997 if they get within about 10% of each other.

i've always thought that one interesting comparison for pricing is to look at RS Americas. i had 2 of these prior to the GT3.Of course their is NO comparison between the cars. none what so ever. But they are sort of 'cult' cars within the Porsche community not unlike the GT3's. i'm not sure what these guys are getting for their cars (or if they are actually selling them) but they are all priced in the hi 30's and mid to hi 40's. Of course you do have the dreamers asking for more.
So a nice 04 GT3 priced intelligently somewhere in the 50's looks damn good............. i wonder what the floor will be for our cars? it sure seems that the RSA's have found one in the middle 30's. here is the link to the RSA Registry site: http://www.rsamerica.net/market/vehicles/index.htm

just to add some "real life" data to this thread... i just traded in my 04 996 GT3 (all stock) to a dealership in OR for $50k. that seems to be the wholeesale price at this time. i think prices have come back a bit stronger than a yr or 2 ago. 996 GT3's should be in the low to mid $50k for private/retail sale. maybe higher 50k for retail or cars with less than 20k miles. 50k wholesale is where we're at. you can get that kind of money for a GT3 with reasonable miles all day long (mine had 26k miles).

Sane sellers are still asking in the $50s. Have this seen this one in person for example...someone should jump on it.
I'll agree that the market is rebounding. Last winter when I was looking for my GT3, I came across a couple lower-mileage examples, priced below 50k. I have not seen anything worthwhile for <50k recently.

You see those red seat belts & painted seat backs? That easily makes the car worth $70k. Just ask me, I will tell you that as much as you want to hear it. Red is not only fast but expensive.
