Default Does anyone know this red '04 w/ 18K miles?

I have a friend who is in the auto business and likes to buy Vipers....we came across this red GT3 w/18,000 miles WP0AC29934S692645
at dealer auction in Las Vegas and he is there trying to buy some other stuff. I want him to own a real car. Whats the market on them right now and what should he look for, to me the car looks base with red seatbelts and no PCCB. I think if he buys this he will never again look at a Viper. I know the GT3 community is tight just looking for input. Thanks.

Once a viper guy, always a viper guy. Let your friend get whatever car he likes.

Yeah, I have pals with Vipers who just want a car they can do burnouts with at the 7-11. They seem to want that over anything that the GT3 can offer them. While I agree with your philosophy of getting your pal in a GT3 so he can straighten up, I also see Robs point clearly.

Personally, I love the looks and certainly the power of the Viper, likely one of the most classically beautiful American designs in history. My issue with Vipers are that they lacks refinement. Just getting in and out of one is more of a chore then I care to put up with. To me a major strength in any 911 from a '64 base model right on through to an '11 GT2 RS is that you can enjoy it every day if you want and not have to make compermises.
Anyone can get into virtually any 911 and go and if they want a docile daily runner with good fuel econ, they can have that....and in the blink of an eye the most serious and focused performance automobile to exist.
Any 911 built within nearly the last half century can be all things to many people, but a Viper simply never could, it doesnt even have cargo room for its owners ego (not all Viper owners are that bad, but I have met a number that think really highly of themselves)
Can't say I agree once a Viper guy always a Viper guy, same for Ferrari and Lamborghini owners.....Many often come back to what they started out on. A Porsche 911.
Porsche folks like us often flirt with the above cars and some we will love some we will hate, but we will always be 911 people, Porsche brand people at the very least. Can't sleep and keep rambling. Am I alone in my thoughts?

Sorry, forgot to ask as im more a 993 follower, what kind of money should he pay for the '04 Red GT3..? He wants to keep it about a year and be safe. It was offered at $50,000 which I assume to be far too much. Is it a car thats worth $42,000 needing a set of tires? How far off am I?

I only like one Viper owner; Emmanuelle Seigner driving a red one in the 9th Gate.
So with her in it, I pick the red Viper in every other case the GT3 is better. : )

You know what they say about assuming...

Your pretty far off.

Look here for a sold example: http://inventory.racperformance.com/...-Texas/746988/

Apples to oranges comparing wholesale to retail. GT3's are still suprisingly strong at Manheim knowing what the private party market has been like.

Looks like the car sold to someone yesterday for $50k...did your buddy pull the trigger or someone else?

FWIW, I've yet to see a GT3 that's rolled through a dealer auction that I felt was worth buying.

This car was at a GM dealer in Utah. It was a trade in that they didn't know what to do with. It was on cars.com for one day listed at 49500. I called on it and it was already on the trailer for Vegas as they figured it would never sell on their GM lot. It sounded like a really good deal if the car checked out with a PPI.

I thought the miles were great but options light. That car in Dallas MB pointed out is just a nicer car with great options and worth a premium. The actual spread between retail and wholesale is nothing like it once was as nice vehicles of ANY type have been scarce. No, my friend did not pull the trigger at 50K, i think it was offered on OVE.com for a buy it now price of that. Still not sure if it sold.
Another question he asked me is if a Turbo would be more what he is looking for and I didn't know how to answer. He is a very successful self made guy aged 35 and likes attention- thus the Viper fixation. He isnt going to the track he wants the ladies to notice him.... Turbo or GT3?? I kinda think a Turbo may be his best bet since he isnt an 8000 Revs kind of driver.

If he isn't going to track it, a GT3 is pointless. Especially a 6 GT3. It's not much fun as a street car at all IMO. Sounds like a 997 turbo may be more up his alley.
