Cup special tool part number is white part no 996 424 395 02

Some of them are ordinary items and can be fetched outside Porsche. (since their cost is very low just order them together to save time and help your tech do the job)
Note that 2 small 10mm nuts required to secure one stud are NOT in the parts list and must be bought separately.

If you are going to use the cup cables, don’t bother reusing the end tips of the oem shifter by patenting an attachment method, because they are plastic and not up to the job of handling the stronger thicker cup cables, also the point is to remove rubber and plastic for better feel.

1. Shifter 996 424 010 9A
2. Fastener for control cable left 996 424 145 9A *already comes with threaded pin and 2 nuts
3. A. fastener for control cable right / ball socket 900 169 015 02
B. securing clip 900 169 016 02
C. x1 threaded pin 900 228 005 02
D. two M6 thin nuts
4. Cables 996.424.040.75
5. Oval screw for securing item 2 to shifter 999 919 204 09 * oem is a plastic POS that fails see link. Photo of the plastic rivet courtesy of Mikymu. see link

For the strippers, if some of you want to lift the shifter upwards you can buy the extensions and bolts, shown in same diagram, and you also need to buy the retainer and a bolt to secure the cables to shifter. items 15,5 and 13,14.

Note that if you choose to do so, the center console has to go : )

Hope this helps

Best,
John,

I am getting a CAE shifter like yours......

Im confused from the list on the cup ables only parts list needed.

Can you list exactly which parts needed if i'm gonna use the CAE shifter.

TIA,
John

Mooty: Are you subscribed on every damn thread!!!!!! LOL

My mechanic at dealership said he would do it. just need the exact parts needed because mikymu listed 3 parts while 997slow posted a few more extras and the shifter.

Just need the cup cables parts portion since CAE shifter coming already.

The CAE shifter comes with its own metallic connecting parts/rods. (They have a smaller size and diameter).
Make sure that they send you both left and right threaded ones and at least one longer one though.

You just need the cup cables, the shifter and someone to take the time to adjust the shifter properly.

Hi guys,

Going to do my install shortly and was hoping someone could let me know if the ball cup cable ends on the transmission side

These ones:

Are the same as these?:

It does not list them in the diagram that 911slow posted as separate items? Only the one on the shifter side, at a glance and a quick measure they appear the same.

Also what is everyones verdict on the shifter risers? (mainly a road car) I got a set with the cup shifter and cables I bought..I am just curious as to whether its worth losing the console over them.

I got to do a parts order anyhow and just want to make one order rather than multiple orders.

cheers

I was not able to find one either. I made one out of a piece of steel I had laying around.

Here is a video of a guy who did the same:

I didn't make mine go to the driver's side cable, so it's smaller than the one in the video, but the only the passenger's side cable really needs to be secured, as you know the driver's side cable snaps in like the non-cup cables do (photo below was taken before I spray painted it black).

Thanks, i was hoping to get the original piece, but sorry to see more people are having issues getting this :\

I was thinking of maybe using strips to hold it down. But maybe ill be able to carve out a metal piece like you did.

I think they came with the 996 CUP shifter and probably were not readily available as an individual part. As you know real 6-CUP shifters are pretty much unobtanium at this point. I built a shifter with the Function First Shift Right kit using a stock 996 shifter and it feels downright amazing with the Cup cables.
