Default Banging noise from left front

I just started driving my '04 GT3 daily and now that the weather is cold, I hear a thumping noise from under the floor board under the driver's side when I hit even a small bump or pot hole. Maybe the strut cartridge? Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Tub,

Normally that location leads to the sway link... Tighten up the nut and your done. But it would be more of a rattle Vs a thud.

Thanks, but it's hard to believe since the car has only 2k miles.

Yes, a loose link is common no matter what the miles. But a bad strut... Not so common.

hi.

bad sway bar link and bad shock, have had both.

link, its kinda like a rattling as someone said.

bad shock, its a loud knocking. like there's something big and heavy loose under there, hitting against the body.

i had my shock go bad with less than 2k kms on the clock... must have been a bad unit from the factory. replaced under warranty (mk1 997 GT3)

hope this helps.

It actually sounds like something hitting against the floorboard. From your description, it's not really a rattle but a "bump." Anyway, the car goes in for service this week.

Also the brake duct could be off since it's held by ****ty plastic rivets. Mike

There's a race car locked away inside there somewhere that's been trying to get out for seven years now. The banging will get louder as time passes if not released.

I'd suggest letting her stretch her legs a bit.

Something is loose on your suspension. Should be a fairly easy find for your mechanic.
