Switched power near the ECU
I have searched and found out that the green phone wire is a popular source, but I am looking for one nearer to the ECU. Can any one point me in the right directions?

Sleep is overestimated. : )
I like to use the spare slots of the fuse box to take power. In the back I don't have easy access to the diagrams to help you. Another option is the phone plug if you have it that is fused and empty and the rear defroster plug that switches off only when pressing lock on key.
Also Scott (SH || NC) recently took switch from somewhere to install camera or data recorder. Contact him New York time is more convinient now.
John
ps. Mike u r bad.

Any bolt going in the metal body can be used for ground no need to search for wire.
And if you want to keep car intact ignore Mike, he uses duct tape for everything but the wheels. : )

Yep; I struggled (through the Teq bar!) to find switched power back there; well, I did, but not a suitable source. I finally decided to run the helper wire to the front phone plug.
