Default 996 Turbo wheels on GT3 ?

Is there anybody who has a picture or two of a 996 GT3 MkII with 996 Turbo wheels ? I want to buy them as a second set, but i'm not sure if it looks ok. Thanks

GT3 wheels are
8,5x18 ET40
11X18 ET63

Turbo wheels are
8x18 ET50
11X18 ET45

Might have to add a 5mm spacer front to fit and the rears will stick 18mm more out you can fit them but maybe you ll have to roll the fenders.

About looks I don't like but if its for track who cares.
Oem Turbo wheels are lighter than the gt3 wheels.

Thanks John. I was only looking at the 8 and 11 J sizes and was assuming the ET sizes were the same.
So looking for images will be useless (i should have checked this before) Thanks again

No way are the Turbo wheels fitting a stock GT3. Period.

I know a guy that runs them in the ring for the last two years.
And dan212 member here also said in a thread that he runs them.

I think it will be marginal and probably would require rolling. As I have tried 5mm spacers on my BBS that already are -5 offset from oem and it was a close fit.

Although I have to say that at the rear I run low 117mm height, maybe with stock height It would only rub on big compression incidents.

Without severely rolling the fenders, running a normal height, and having stiff springs, your will cut a tire under compression. The 11"et63 wheels already sit about as close to flush as you can get comfortably. Adding another 18mm of outward movement is like trying to get a square peg into a round hole.

12mm or so outward from the stock 18x11 et63 is about the limit... offset of 51mm or so. That additional 6mm doesn't sound like much, but it's huge when sidewall vs fender becomes the issue. But, if you know someone who's running them, there must be an alignment setup and tire combination that makes it possible.

Found a good Turbo set for sale. I think this should fit:
(I just want to use them as a second set for when it's raining with PS2 tires)

8JX18ET50 (996.362.136.1)
10JX18ET47 (996.362.140.01/02)

1: Do you guys think this will fit, and can i run this set with 235 front and 285 rear ? Or must it be 225 / 265
2: Any other good rain tire suggestions ?

You can run 285 on the 10" wheel. But I'm not sure what wheels you are referring to. The turbo wheels are 11". Regardless, they should fit just fine as the offset is almost the same as a GT3 wheel. It would only be 3mm further out than the stock GT3 wheel.

Yeah sure go ahead. 285s in the rear is perfect for 10" inch wheels, Porsche used that in GT3MK1.
235 in 8" inches is fine as well, it's the minimum wheel width suggested by Michelin for their 235 PS2.

I love PS2s in the rain and they are very good in the dry as well.

The wheels you found are 996 turbo look wheels and are solid not real hollows. Porsche uses them for 993 as they replaced the 993 part number and for 996 turbo/996 c4S as winter wheels.

The 8JX18ET50 is same wheel size and offset used for MK2GT3 as winter wheel you don’t need spacers but adding will make them look more closer to oem and clear the 235s for sure.

And the 10JX18ET47 has a 18mm difference *more to the outside than the GT3mk2 winter rear wheels that are 10x18 but with 65 offset.

Because wheel is 10 instead of 11 it will actually look about 3mm more to the outside than your oem wheel now does.

It will fit but only problem I see is that you ll have problem fitting snow tyres in these rears vs oem offset winter 10s.

Hope this helps, now please go find a blue midget to fit under the rear cage and get back to me with a pm.

John

That is exactly the set i was looking for: 8JX18ET50 & 10JX18ET47
Tried them on today, and they fit perfect. As a second set they look good enough for me.
What is nice about this set up is, it does not require spacers.

I like tha "patina" on the GT3 wheels pictured last.
Is that all brake dust or were the wheels painted in darker grey?

I cover the wheels with silicon spray. I tell other people i do that to protect the the rims (NOT). Call me an idiot but i love the look of the brake dust. Looks 24 hr endurance racing. Never liked the polished rims so much. The good thing about the silicon spray is that it DOES protect the rims from the brake dust (brake dust eats rims for breakfast) Now it does not go in the rim but it sticks to the spray. I get it from Wurth. After a track day or two they are pitch black, i clean them and put the spray back on.
