Full Wrap & Tracking?
#2
Yup I'm wrapped. Been wrapped basically since I got the car. It holds up very well and allows you to be much lazier with respect to cleanup. Just spray it off.
I've had over 30 days of track with a wrapped car - and maybe 20 on this wrap. Still looks good. I'm a big fan.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

everyone's use of the car is different.
if it's a garage queen, possibly full wrap makes sense.
if it's a street car, then maybe 50% wrap, entire front etc.
but form SH's mods i figure this is a track *****. a good looking one at that.
if it's used as often as i think it is, then here is my 2 cents.
wrap:
entire front bumper
entire hood
1/2 of front fenders
all wheel arches
mirros
DONE.
why?
i have tracked a lot of miles and observe some patterns of damage.
the chance of getting chipped on rear wing, rear deck, rear bumper, door, rear quarter panel (beside arches) and roof is very very remote. will you get chips, i dont know. but even if you get chipped, it's a small one. the chance of you going off and rub something is bigger than getting chipped on those areas.
the area i suggested wrapping will be sandblasted if you dont wrap it. even if you do wrap it, after two years, tops, you need to rewrap. if after two years they are still good, you are most likely not driving it too hard.
i didn't mention wrapping sills (sideskirts)... that's the place that get chipped the most. but no matter what you wrap it with, i had THREE layers of 3M on them. after ONE track day, the part right in front of the rear tire is ripped to pieces from debris. on the second day, paint is chipped. on day three it's blasted. so i see no point wrapping those.

I loved the chips on the front of my 996GT3. There is a guy in Montana that had a CGT, drove the **** out of the car on gravel roads. When asked if he wanted to paint and wrap the front he said" I like the patina"
I just said fu^k it. Damn, I miss that car. It had chips on the roof.

Thanks guys for the feedback; good points.
I think for now I will keep what I have; bumper, lights, 1/2 hood, mirrors, and continue the clean up process after each event. I still like the idea of a satin black with flat black wheels though....

But I think I am in agreement with you guys; from a protection point of view, I think what I have suffices. Doing a full wrap just isn't warranted (in my case) unless its for aesthetics and/or going racing. Stevo, that looks really sharp.

If you don't have it on the trailing edges of the fenders behind the wheel arches I highly suggest adding wrap there. As mooty stated the skirts are going to get abused pretty badly but they're easy to remove and refinish. Not soo much on the fenders and rear bumper behind the wheel arches.
