Folks,

I'd like to switch out my stock OEM shift **** which is long and thin for a round shifter, very similar to what comes stock on the 997 GT3. I'm thinking about upgrading the shift mechanism to the 997 unit and would like to switch out the **** at the same time. Porsche offers the carbon fiber style shift **** which was an option for our cars, but even that is still very similar to what I have now. I've seen the 997 alcantera **** retrofitted to fit our cars, but I'm looking for an easier plug and play solution.

I've also seen the RUF shifter ($400), but I'm not that impressed by it.

Are you aware of any other options for a round shifter?

Carnewal has a hybrid version of the 996/997 shift ****.

I have the Rennline aluminum ball **** which has a good feel and looks very racey. It was under $100. It looks good with a short shift kit.

I went with the 996/997 hybrid version for my GT3. Got it from Gert at Carnewal. Here's a pic.

The 997 shift **** works just fine on the 996 shifter, you just don't use the locking collar. The 997 GT3 ****...
