My 996gt2 alignment results,your thoughts
Had my alignment checked and adjusted today,
The car is a 996gt2 clubsport,its recently had new rs front and rear lower split control arms,new original bilstein shocks,full powerflex polly bush kit and new toe arms at the rear and eccentrics.
I use the car mainly for the nordschleife in germany but also some uk track days,with little road use and i always run michelin pilot sport cups.
Just after opinions on my settings and whether they seem good enough or need changing,i havent drove the car on track yet since adjustments.
The settings are,
-2.12degrees camber front left -2.28degrees camber front right
8.17degrees castor front left 8.41dgrees castor front right
+0.02degrees toe front left +0.02degrees toe front right
-3.03degrees camber rear left -3.10degrees camber rear right
+0.12dgrees toe rear left +0.12degrees toe rear right
Any guidance or personal experience and input is greatly appreciated,cheers

Front is fine I would prefer camber close to 3
Rear I wouldnt go more than 2.30' with the 315s and would set the toe total 30'+
A must is to change the rear toe arms and kill the eccentric bolts. Oem can loose the toe if the wind changes suddenly.

The rear toe links without eccentrics atre my next mod on the list,can you recommend any?cheers

It's more common to have more negative camber in the front. I like one deg. difference more on the front on my gt3 running 255 and 315 tyres. I am running 3 and 2.
Camber is best set in the track you use with the car you have and of course with the tyres and by checking their temps and wear.
But I think that the 3 and 2 combo works well with the cups as I have tested.
If you go with 20 or less total rear toe car will rotate too much and be unstable when breaking too and when going to gas early. its good for autocross probably.
Rear toe links do a search here, I have the Tarret links. Very well made and Ira the owner is super helpful. But there are other nice products as well.
Also if your car is lowered considerably you may want to buy the adjustable for bumpsteer ones.
Btw what you do with the 315 cups did you find any place to buy them?

I got the alignment specs for the 996 GT2 from Motorsport in Germany and posted them here in 2002.
Front Camber - 2.5 degrees
Front toe 2 mins per side
Caster 8 degrees -0+.5
Rear Camber -2.4 degrees
Rear Toe 14 mins per side -0+2. 28-32 mins total
Agree with adding toe links to control camber and if you want to go farther, use aftermaket or Motorsport control arms and replace the rubber bushings with monoballs.
Note that unless you are using a soft sidewall pue race slick like dunlops your camber settings are too high and you will cord the inside edges of your rear tires in no time. Braking will also be affected and driving in the wet will be difficult.

Are we talking positive 30 total rear toe or negative?
I haven't managed to get any 315 cups so have had to resort to 11"turbo wheels with 15mmspacers and 295's,seem ok so far

Cheers i'm getting my alignment re-done tomorrow hopefully then off to the ring saturday for tf on sunday and a track day monday so i'll post feedback

Neil, who's doing your alignment? I can't recommend Chris at CentreGravity enough. The man lives and breathes suspension... He'll be out at The Ring for TF on Sunday and for the Destination Nurburgring on the Monday. Not working just playing but sure he can answer the odd question.
I'll see you there too, can't wait, TF sunday, steak on a stone, no bikes Monday!

Exactly what John said, THE place for steak on a stone, just don't put pepper on the hot stone!
