Default Gray Market GT2

What are everyone's thoughts on gray market GT2's? Stevinson imports in Denver has a gray market 2001 with 10k miles for $69k. I have a friend that wants to pick it up, but I asked him to hold until I could get feedback from the community on resale, history issues, etc.

In my opinion only, I used to be against gray market cars, until I realized that Porsche's were made in Germany by Porsche.

Whether the car is sold in any country doesn't mean it was engineered in that country. As long as the records match the car, and it's clean with a good history, I can't think of a reason why it would be different than any other car.

A grey market car is fine for the track. If you want licence plates and expect to drive it on the street then you could run into all sorts of problems. A dealer can slap on dealer plates and you can test drive it but the State Dept of Motor Vehicles, will usually not issue plates until you have suffered through thousands of dollars and hassle. IF someone has already done that and there was licence plates on the car with a previous owner then it might be just a small risk. Usually the car comes in and after all the hassle and no plates the owner gives up and wants to dump the problem on the next guy. (and the car is perfect and equal to a legal car)

This car has the DOT certification and has been plated in Colorado, so no issues there.

It was imported from Germany in 2001 - the previous owner did not want to wait for a GT2.

Don't even THINK of trying to bring it into California! This place is nuts in that regard, unfortunately.

Still for sale. Sure looks like the GM GT2 that used to be around here.
Might be the same car, if so she saw a lot of track time.

Thought I would finish this story out. In a fit of Porsche exuberance I bought that 2001 GT2. It is a gem. Thought I might have some difficulties getting it registered, but I did...It passed emissions fine and it's got plates now. Car is exactly what it was purported to be...A perfect example of a Euro spec GT2 with 10,000 miles. I've done a lot of driving already with it and it's simply magnificent...The price wasn't bad either. Actually amazing really. Car might have done some track time...Brakes have some use...but I track my cars too...so it's going right back there again.
