John,
What cfjan is talking about is the inner spider gears and side gears that are inside of the ramps. They stopped using a a properly cut and ground gear somewhere near the end of 996 production and went to a cast gear. You can see pictures of the differences in the LSD Buster thread by Mikymu. They are in every 997 GT2 and GT3 LSD I've ever rebuilt, as well as the .9c motorsports LSD listed in the picture you have posted.

I have to honestly say I am not sure what we would find in a 996 GT2 LSD. I don't think I've rebuilt one before or if I did I didn't notice it having the cast gears.

I also discourage people from rebuilding their street cars with the motorsports clutch packs. They don't last anywhere near as long as our parts do and they make much much more noise.

Regards,

Matt

old style motorsport clutch pack is a cheap sollution.
For street / track car I think it will last for a long time.
Of course if money is not a problem I would love to have a better diff. all together.

John

EDIT
I checked my notes i have rebuild mine with the older clutch pack but looking for a friends mk1 was really difficult to find the older cup clutch pack anymore. Everybody sell the 9c. version which is little bit too much if you drive street and wet.
