If I was ever going to cage mine, I'd get something like this and weld it myself: http://www.customcages.co.uk/Rollcag...=International

Considering the cost of steel, inherent rejected bends, having to notch the tubes, etc, I think the price is well worth it.
I will destroy my cage soon trying to weld the side bars so stay tuned for DIY welding.

OT Serge may i suggest you start building a cage to cover your houses front door now that the neighbors will start visiting you with bats etc might be useful. You have until Monday

Had no reply from slow unfortunately.

Does anyone have any info on the White RS cage as per picture in post #11?

I have been googling for a week now with no luck. The only picture I have found that has the centre ‘bar’ going across is this one.

I can’t find a part number for it either.

Any help, even just to confirm it’s OEM would be great, thanks all.

The club sport roll bar pictured above is no longer made. Porsche changed the design on the 997 Clubsport bars to have the shoulder attachment point further back thus allowing more "stretch" of the shoulder belts in an accident resulting in a reduction of load on the upper torso / neck area. The later gen 997.1 and 2 Clubsport bars are also NLA.

FVD is selling a reproduction of the original OEM 996/997 cage made by Heico in Germany. There are a couple differences in their repro but similar attachment points and fits without cutting the dash or rockers.

Safety Devices makes a bolt in cage but it requires that you cut the rocker panels to install.

Nick,

Thanks for the info!

One quick question, is THIS cage an original?

What are the subtle differences...or do you have to kill me if you tell me LOL!

PM me if you want.

Was just viewing their website.

On 'my' grey cage, it has the horizontal bar in the main section, the FVD one still doesn't have this.

As their one is a copy, does that mean that mine has the subtle differences to make it genuine?

I bought it as a genuine cage, I am just checking to make sure that it is.

As far as I understand I THINK that it is but was redesigned by Porsche as per the copy ones with the horizontal bar now at the rear.

Am I correct?

That appears to be the old style 996.2GT3RS Clubsport cage made by IVM.

Thanks.

Does anyone have any pictures of it in a car to confirm it's genuine?

Or a link to where I can find one?

Thanks again all

(just found emoji's BTW )

The ONLY google picture of this cage is the one posted by 911slow, the white one on the first page.

I swear I have been searching for days, here, UK forums, Pistonheads, old eBay ads, EVERYWHERE

Hence why I resurrected this old thread.

I've also searched AutoAtlanta, Teile and everywhere else that I can think of. Old cars for sale adverts etc etc

^^^ +1

see interior picture in this add showing the reinforced cross bar https://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...m-new/10082977

and here from rear:
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...t3-rs/10115214

It’s definitely not a factory fit on the regular club sport package.

made by IVM?

so not a genuine Porsche part OR made by them for Porsche? If that makes sense.

The grey cage above is std from factory then, yes/no?
