Question AIM GPS Antenna Location Help

The AIM SmartyCam comes with an additional external GPS antenna. The cable is much longer than the one pictured here.

I am trying to think of a way to temporarily mount it, like on the back carpeted shelf, but it mounts by adhesive and that won’t work. I’ve been told I can mount it at the front windshield near the ventilation duct, and I’ve seen it mounted on the back shelf under the rear glass.

This isn’t a fully dedicated track car, and I don’t want to take apart the interior just to run the cable for my weekend GPS signal needs, at least, not for this weekend’s event.

All feedback welcomed.

On the roof and feed the cable in from the passenger window. I thought they were magnetized, but if not just tape it down....

I’ll check it tonight. It very well could be magnetic, which makes sense when you think about its intended purpose. I assumed it was adhesive since it looks like it has a peel-off backing on it. Thanks

You can use Velcro, it will work on carpet.

I have some industrial Velcro. If it turns out the mount is not magnetic, I’ll give that a try.

I'm a dingbat; it is magnetic , and pretty strong I might add. I've even got some yellow racer's tape to help secure the cable.

Thanks guys.

FWIW, it will also slip into the indented area in the center of the dash against the glass. I dont know what that indendation's for, but my AIM sensor slips right in....

I mounted mine under the carpet that lies beneath the rear window shelf. Works great, you can't see it and I never have a reception issue.
