most threads are old sounds like most are running pagid yellow front and blacks rear ..would appreciate opinions;
-drive to track with them? i am used to using ceramics on my 997s for yrs so i got spoiled not having to change pads

-best place to order from including part numbers? (suncoast doesnt seem to have them..)

When I use Pagids, I use RS19/29 all the way around. I also use PFC, 06s all the way around. I leave them on the car, even for street driving. For many here, it's easy to drive them to the track when they are on a trailered car

I use Pagid yellows f/r all the time. Too lazy to change pads for street. Thinking of moving to blacks at the rear next time to help even out the brake bias a bit.

I had ceramic rotors before and now I have iron. Get used to plenty of brake dust.

Let me ask you something regarding your car Allan. Getting a GT3 delivered from CA, hopefully tomorrow. It has the PCCB brakes but will eventually go with iron for track duty. Since the rotor size is the same F/R, are you still seen more front bias in your car? Will the "black" pads in the rear help with the bias? Are they more aggressive than the front yellows? I thought only folks with the OEM iron rotors would go with the black pads in the rear since they are smaller to begin with.Thanks! Lou

i have 996gt3 with both oem steel and oem pccb.
pccb swapped to all steel
either car you can run all yellow or yellow front/blk rear. it's a personal feel thing. i never liked black on the back. i prefer yellow all around regardless of rotor size in the case of 996gt3.

I do rs19's(yellow) all around with castrol
srf brake fluid. Never had ne issues when braking hard. Also
with race pads it will squeak more. Mike

RS29's here.. Once I'm done with these I'm running Hawk DTC60 (Track) And stock pads for the street.

The Yellow groove the rotors too much for street use and the brake dust is HORRIBLE.. I also don't mind changing pads. I can usually bang it out in 40 minutes all the way around.

I don't really street drive much and my RS29 (f/r) wear the rotors too. Much less on the rear though so yes, the brake bias on an ex-pccb car (350mm rotor front + rear) still has a lot of bias to the front (still had that same bias with pccb on the car). Haven't driven a yellow/black pad combo but I figured I'd try it out. The brakes are great, it's more of me doing my usual over-thinking thing.

mkk62 - If you have a 996 GT3, the best combo is Yellow Front, Black rear. The 996 has too much bias towards the front. Consequently the front pads and rotors wear out fast and the rears last forever. Using the Black pads in the rear improve brake bias, braking and makes the fronts last longer. I also suggest you get a set of GT3 Cup brake ducts for the front which will make your rotors last longer since the 996 hasn't enough brake cooling. Look at the changes made to a 997 GT3 if this surprises you. Yellows can be RS 19 or 29 they are pretty much the same.

If you bed them properly and KEEP THEM BEDDED, they don't squeal, at least mine didn't nor did a have a dozen other 996 GT3s set up the same way. Street driving will wear off the layer of pad material deposited on the rotors, if you don't re bed them, they will squeal. Bed them or spend more time on the track

I run the Pagid yellows & Girodisc rotors on the front and the Pagid blacks on the rear. This combo works well for me, minor squeal from the pads while driving on the street.
My 996 GT3 is 90% track use so I don't switch out pads for the limited street duty the car sees.

thanks guys yellow front ordered...black rears ordered motul and sslines ordered cant wait to get on the track....the car has new mpsc's never used them looks like hot temps are lower than the r888's///
