Thumbs up Bypass Pipes Installed, Daddy Like

All Pictures & Write Up

So this morning at coffee, I was talking with Dell about my exhaust options for the GT3; Europipe is at the top of the list, but anyway; requirements are a quality system with little more volume and to loose some weight.

Of course the option of bypass pipes came up. A set has been passed down to me from another one of our coffee guys; oddly enough, they were originally Dell’s.

Now all I have ever heard or read about was how they were so loud, and that they drone, and they attract too much attention, etc., etc. on the street. I had been thinking about using them at the track but again, I was even worried about the drive to and from the track. I've been in a car with an exhaust system that is too loud and I know how miserable it can be. Needless to say I was a little leery.

When Dell told me it was only the 3 bracket bolts and the clamps at the cat pipes, I figured we might as well give it a go since we go to the track in a few weeks anyway.

Now I helped Dell strip the Boxster before his spec build, and I was present the day he pulled the cats and mufflers. I took the video when he fired it up with essentially straight pipes, right off the header.

That 2.5 was l-o-u-d
, and that’s kind of what I was expecting.

Come to find out, I really liked it. The very nice growl on start up is just the kind of presence I was looking for, and surprisingly, on the street it isn't unbearable. I like the back popping and the idle has a very nice buble to it.I did not get it much above 3k on the drive home, but I have been told, and I'm sure it will be absolutely glorious on the track.

I may grow tired of it eventually, but right now I really like it.

Really cool rumble !

I hope you can make another video with a drive by or take off acceleration.

It really sounds like a massibe Muscle car V8 right now, but I think it is tolerable. But if you start playing in the street, I bet you are gonna attract cops like flies on sh** !

Officially, I don't know, but I do know I've heard louder cars there I'll see what I can find out unless someone else posts it up.

Edit: found what is stated:

"Noise - Unmuffled engines must not be run between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. There is a quiet hour on Sundays from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon."
