996 GT3 daily driver?

I put 60,000 miles of my 996GT3 in 4 years. There are challenges with the lip and the cup holders will hold a cup but the only way for coffee to not spill is if the car is stationary. I loved ever minute. After modes my wife would not get in the car so I removed the passenger seat. Made more room for suitcase when I left the car at the airport. Nothing like landing @ 11:30 at night and have a fun back home.

It's the only car I own and I am still very happy with it. Extremely reliable. I only had one real problem, which was a leaky seal, but other than that it is simply a "turn the key and ride car".
For me the GT3 is one of the few cars that I consider a real sports car. Most "sports cars" are just luxury two-seaters, but that is just personal taste.
If you don't mind the stiff ride and slightly spartan nature of the car, then you will be fine. I love it.
You just need to learn care with the front spoiler. Florida has a lot of steep driveways and parking lot entries because we get very heavy rain. I am on my second chin spoiler now. I lost the first one when we had 30" of rain over a period of several days and I rode through some standing water. It doesn't take much of any speed to pull that spoiler off.
For street use I run Khomos. They are fine for street use and I get about 12,000 to 14,000 miles on a set of rear tires. Khomos are about half the cost of the stock tires and I don't street race, so the slight loss in performance is of no consequence. Save the good rubber for the track with an extra set of wheels if you can. If you are getting an RS, then the 04 probably is retiring? Maybe you won't need track wheels?
The only problem I have had is I had one incident driving on Route 95 when it was shut down for an accident where my left foot cramped up somewhat due to a lot of start-stops. I don't even notice the clutch anymore. When I get in another car with a clutch my first thought is that the hydraulic clutch has failed!

Of course, you need a front seat!

I daily drove mine for a year. Fair lakes to Arlington (Court House) for work during rush hours on 66. Not impossible but not ideal either. I even took it to tracks during the weekend trackdays. It is doable.

Looney, go home the long way on days you use the 3 to work. I usually incorporate a drive (to pick up something or fetch one of the children from a friend) that let's me stretch her legs a bit ..... the added bonus is the brownie points for helping with the chores

Does it really matter where you drive?
If you really think about it, 90 percent of GT3 buyers shouldn't have bought this car in the first place, but they did, and even if that choise makes sense only for a few brief moments, one day in one road or track where everything clicks together, it's a good decision 'cause you feel happy and THAT's the bloody point..
So.. just drive. : )
