Default Painted or Powder Coated?

I've decided to have the stock GT3 wheels painted black. My question is do you have them painted or powder coated? My bodyshop says painted? Ceramic Paint.
The local wheel place says powder coated?

I'm going for a finish like the 7RS cars, ie. shiny

TIA

I went with paint because (apparently) powder coat can cover cracks. Cracks will show through paint. If a wheel is cracking, I want to know about it.

Cheers,

Yo, Dave, save the $400 paint job and go pick up a used set of black ano'd CCWs... you're going to EAT rears on that monster machine.

PM Dell. I seem to remember that he painted (not powder coat) his stockers black.

Ditto what Allan said.

Street? Powder Coat

Track? Paint. The powder coating process can weaken the wheel (depending on the temps they use) and has been also pointed out, very hard to see hairline defects. Of course the paint will take a hit on track (easier to chip, etc) but if they are track wheels think of them as battle scars. Nothing a rattle can can't fix

Thanks for the replies. I'm painting these for street application. I already have CCW's for the track.

Thanks.

For street, I'd get them powder coated. Painted lips will get scratched the first time you install tires...

If the tire guy knows what he's doing then the lips will be fine. I get my tires mounted by a wheel refinishing outfit. They do it right.

It rains a lot where I live so I track my "street" wheels w/PS2 on rainy days. I'll never powder coat wheels.

Cheers,

^ also trying to powdercoat nething- color mite not come out right( but if your doing black probably won't be an issue). I have seen a few powdercoated rollbars and color to match exterior of car may not match. Thank god my rollbar was matched correctly- I woulda died if the red powdercoat look too orange- what an eyesore. Mike

I heard something about powder coating preventing lug nuts to be properly torque or hold torque.
