Default Couple more brake controller questions

For the Prodigy towing a 2 axle trailex trailer, did you wire to the battery using a 20A auto reset circuit breaker or 30A? Manual says 20 for 2 axle but I've heard conflicting opinions. Also, what brake force setting did you end up using? (Choices are c., b1, b2, b3 in order of increasing brake aggressiveness). I will be towing with a 4800 lb Jeep Grand Cherokee and figure on trailer weight of about 4500. Thanks.

B2 would probably work out ok.

Don't think of it as either/or. You should do an initial setting as described in the manual by activating the controller and judging the brake force at low speed. If the trailer brakes lock, you lower the setting. If I am at freeway speeds, I'll generally set it at Boost 3. If it's wet, I'll generally back off the setting or drop to B2. At slow speeds around town, I'll drop to B1or 2. I'll change settings during the trip depending on how the braking feels. Once you figure out what you like, you'll know what to do and won't change as often. As an initial setting, I usually go to about 4.5, but again you should do the low speed test. The advantage of the Prodigy is that you can cycle through the Boost settings and leave your initial setting alone. Enjoy towing in safety!

Thanks for both of your replies. Any comments on a 20 vs 30 Amp circuit breaker?

I used a 30 amp on my self install on the 03 RR. The dealer installed the harness for the 08 and I do not know what breaker was used. No problems with either set up.

I used the process described by TC87 and have never used the boost settings, but run an 8 setting on the controller. No issues, with only one close to panic stop so far in 12,000 miles of towing.

I tow with a Nissan Armada and used their factory wiring harness to adapt the Prodigy. IDK for sure, but I believe that this was a 30 amp circuit.
