Cupcar cables should help with the 2/3 upshift(popped it doing that). I was so amped up doing an ncrc race so tried to get a good rolling quick start and did a quickshift and BAM shiftlink popped off. Ruined my whole weekend. The shiftlink is the plastic piece on the rt side cable(left side is just for reverse)that connects to the shifter- plastic threads holds it together- what a pos. There are aftermarket ones like the evo shiftlink(metal) u can replace with. Since it be your 1st trackday u be amped like me so just be smooth with the 2/3 and it'll be fine but I have an extra one just in case. Mike

I decided to keep the plastic pos shiftlink versus metal because I rather have that pop off versus something popping off at the tranny. Mike

NT01? Poor car. It's used to steady diet of R6's.

Enjoy!

I have r6's but have yet to use them. I'm running kuhmos v710's great grip- did a personal best 1:51.9xxx at sp(still slow compared to 171 mph and mooty- still lots to learn- my ***** are small). Mike

V710 are great too - at least when new. Some folks report the tires get a bit greasy on the track and others say they are fine. I had 2-yr old V710 I tried on my local track and it was nasty. Ran R6 in the morning for a 1:16.4xx Afternoon with V710 ran 1:20.5xx. About the same as my PS2.

Though v710's have better grip when new but man do they chunk at inner edge and in the grooves. Tires just had 10 hc's left last Sunday at sp. Don't know if I should flip them or go r6's next( kuhmos haven't corded yet). Mike

Yea.. My Wallet likes NT01's I'll likely get some R6's at some point for this. I'm just tires of the minimal Heat Cycles for DE's. I ran Hoosiers (Koni & R6's) on my old Koni car.

Great weather this weekend.. I'll give the full report.

In CW config: A friend of mine was doing 1:58 and that was quite fast. My shocks aren't the most confidence inspiring so I was doing 2:02 (3rd day there). We're all new to the track so times will drop as we learn it.

My wallet likes NT01 better too. I just hired a pro driving coach so I'll talk to him about tire choice. The NT01 is a very nice tire though. Very predictable with good manners. Just lacks overall grip of R6. You'll like them.

Cheers,

I'm familiar with them from my 993. They'll just be a bit squirmy my first day out.
