Guys,
I'm in the process of buying a really cool 6GT3. The ppi came out clean apart from the fact that the LSD is toast. I understand that this is a common GT3 problem since the factory diff seems to be made out of chocolate and melts away on the first track day. We have decided to get the diff rebuilt. I would like some advice on how to do this properly. I don't care about the diff probably making some strange noises while parking as long as I have a good track performance and durability. What do you recommend ? Any ideas on how much this would
cost ? At the same time the car has only covered 5k miles. What kind of service should I get done it ? Your valuable feedback is very welcome. I will post some pics soon.

I had it in my 996GT3 and one is going in my 997GT3 today. They can rebuild it as well. Have your shop ship it to them and they can rebuild the clutch packs. Better hurry though, the daytona and siebring I would expect them to be pretty busy.
Do not get the rebuild with Porsche parts as it will wear out quickly with track use. Call Matt.

You can also just get the GT3 cup bits and save yourself a bunch of money. When I was looking to do it myself, it was around $200-300 in parts. If you have good jack stands or a lift it's really easy to do. You could also send it away to Joel (PCA hero) and he'll do the internals for you.

Can I get the cup parts at the Porsche dealer and which parts do I have to look for ? Is the Guards LSD or Porsche cup one the better solution ? Which one will perform better on the track and which one will be more durable ?

You have to find a race shop that carries the porsche motorsports line.
IE trg (the racers group)
The Guards LSD will be a better system than the stock system.

The ppi states that there are no over revs but it is not classified into range 1 and range 2 types. From what I've heart only the range 2 ones are a problem.

Guard is $2200 for the whole unit, $1700 for the packs and ramps. Porsche cups are ok not sure the cost less. Last time I did my 996 the porsche parts cost more and did not last as long.

I went with the PMNA Cup LSD clutch packs. It was less than 1K for parts and labor. Absolutely loved them!

Guys,
I'm located in Birmingham, Michigan. We have a tough winter and pretty bad roads so I'm going to minimize street driving and hopefully do more track driving.

I also went with PMNA cup parts. The clutch pack was about $700.00. It is not a durable as the Guard LSD, but is less than half the cost, so I decided to see how it would do. Huge difference compared to the toasted pack I had in. Murat, when will you be getting it?
