Default Is this a good deal ? Modified Mk1 996 GT3

My first post in this sub-forum, so hello !

I have been offered GT3, very similar to this car:

http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1216313.htm

Car I'm considering, has same miles, price, colour and modifications. In addition it has 18" Manthey LM wheels, 6 piston front brakes with 350 mm brakes, Manthey spec KW3 suspension, lowered 30-40 mm, LWFW and Cup (?) clutch, Manthey shortshifter, full cage and Clubsport equipment, Cup front bumper, plus some other Manthey modifications. There are bills worth € 25 k. for work carried by Manthey in Oct 2008 and dyno papers showing 394 hp. Haven't seen the car in person yet (it's 2200 km's from my place), pictures look good, but they all do. 2 owners and no crashes.

Car is German registered, all modifications are TÜV approved and it will stay in Germany - used on Nordschleife TF and trackdays on other european tracks. Street driving would be minimal. I'm doing about 5000 track km's during one season. Plan is to keep the car for 1-2 seasons, may-be more, if I like it.

I have quite a lot of track experience, including racing (BMW's), but that would be my first track Porsche. Have owned 964 Turbo and currently own 997 C2S, so not new to P. world. Have driven 997 GT3 RS and assume that 996 will be slower and more dificult to drive to the limit, but at least as much fun. As I'm doing only trackdays, outright speed is not my main concern.

So would it be good buy for that price and my intended use, or should I prefer original cars ?

Mk 1 GT3. That is a landmark Porsche. And the professionalism of the additional bits (Manthey) would not reduce its value. I would be surprised if you could not equal or better the 997GT3RS with a lap time in this steed once you get acclimated to its nuances.

It seems like a true value to me.

How much for it? Sounds like a great car for the track : ). Manthey stuff are top notch. Mike

Compared to UK prices that seems a bit expensive but then fx rate has gone mad. A standard mk1 in uk would be 35-38k GBP and mods don't really add much value.

If I could buy RHD, no questions it's better market in UK. Youre lucky, that RHD cars are not useable in continent, otherwise prices would be like in Germany. Still that JZM car has asking price of £ 45 k., which is more or less the same.
