Any information on availability of MK1 GT3s in the U.S.? Were they imported into country by a shop or group?

I find them to be my favorite GT3s as far as styling and would like to include them in my purchase search if possible. This would be for both street and track use.

I'm guessing some U.S. DOT work is needed to get these cars legal to run in the U.S.

The MKI GT3 was not approved for import into the US. A few have waived in as race cars, but I don't think anyone would pay to retrofit one to make it street legal. I haven't looked at the one in Vegas, but you might ask what was done to it to make it street legal.

The only ones that I know of, are the forest green one that comes back every now and then and the blue one, that was for sale a couple months agon in pano, which I think is the same one posted above.

It will not be legal in 7 or 8 states according to the seller. California is one of those.

looks like one i looked into a while back - asked all the same questions think it was sold to current owner by Sloan but not all DOT/EPA paperwork was there - used as maybe show and display only ie. less than 2500 miles per year.

$57,000 for a MKI? I would pass on that and get a MKII for less money. Plus you get bigger brakes, more HP, better aero, and legal in the US

If you are just about styling, you can by the MK1 kit and put it on a MKII fairly cheaply...

I agree. The Mk1 it is not a street legal car and was not officially imported into the States when it was launched back in 99. I do prefer it over the Mk2 version bacause it igives a much more hardcore and raw feeling. The Mk2 is in general a better car but not so pure as the first (see EVO magazine ranking for instance). A true debadge RS. And the single mass flywheel can really make a difference.

I'd like to have an mk1 just because of it's rarity (that blue one sure is purdy). Does it use a C4 tub as well and how much lighter is it compared to a mk2?
