My front PCCB rotors needs replacement. I plan to fit either Performance Friction or Alcon steel-rotors in the front and use 997 GT3 cup in the rear.
Does anyone have experience from PF and/or Alcons? Here in Sweden the Alcons are around 700USD more expensive than PF, do they have a longer lifetime that motivates the price difference? Does the larger diameter on the Alcon give any noticeable improvement?

Use the 996 GT3cup rotors in front and 007 cup rotors in the rear. Your existing calipers will work fine with them. If you change the diameter if the rotor you will need to change the calipers. Suggest you contact Gert Carnewal www.carnewal.com and gert@carnewal.com

I had a set of the Alcons on my 996 GT3 and was very happy with them. I didn't own them long enough to wear them out so I can't comment on that subject. I seriously doubt that they are 700 USD better then PF products.

Bob,
I think the Alcon rotor being discussed here is 360mm (only 10mm larger) and you can use the same caliper w/ a 5mm spacer (since the calipers are radially mounted).

Alcons laaaaaast. 20+trackdays.
PF you are forced to use their pads as the hats are too big for pagids to clear. I am happy with pagid so didn't want to mess, especially as PF have a rep for hideous brake dust.

I've been pleased with the PF rotors and 97 pads on the front. Noticable improvement over the OEM equipment in braking force and longitivity plus they are lighter. Have run the 97's on the front and 01 on the rear with cup rear rotors. Ran through 2 sets of front pads on the same rotors, some cracks approaching 1" prompted me to replace. May not have really needed to but didn't want to push my luck. Would I do it again? Yes.
