'04 SY GT3 collectibility?
I have an '04 GT3 with low miles along with an '07 RS. I'm thinking of turning the '04 into a daily driver. Any thoughts? I need the room in the garage.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well... Sure. If I had to pick a late version 911 that I could label "collectible" the 996GT3 could be considered for that. It's tough to think of anything 5 years old as already a collectible, but it could certainly become one. It has the makings of one of the greats.

The first GT3 model available in the US could be worth something some day...but we may all be dead by then.
Since you have an RS, maybe consider swapping the 6-3 for a 997 C2S. Probably a better DD car.

In the near term.
Best car I ever owned. I'll buy another one down the road. Probably a newer version sans the sunroof, nav, heated seats, upgraded stereo, etc. Maybe the 998/991...
Mike will be the first to know as I max out the decibel level around his office. (The new owner had the stock cans put back on and the car was almost boring to drive.)

Very hard to say with Porsche AG making so many very high performance models this decade. Take great care of it and enjoy. Always fun when people admire ones GT3 and wonder if it is near new!
Many are still hung up on air cooled engines and you see 993 Turbo & 993 Turbo S values staying high.

Cars become collectible from their infamy; 996 GT3s are infamous, 997 MkI GT3RS are merely famous. Cars don't become collector's items sitting in an air-conditioned garage for 40 years.

996 : the red headed step children of the late model porsches..... they are indeed great cars and with the GT3 package an awesome value in todays market. But they are just not the 993 or 997 that exists today.
The 996 GT3's will be the cars brutilized on the track for years to come as they become even more affordable to track oriented buyers... I expect to see alot of molested/raced/gutted 996 GT3's in the future because of what they are.
I reccommend anyone with a 996 GT3 to drive the pants off it before it depreciates even lower. Enjoy it now, not save it for somebody else. Drive it. Dont collect it. (the 996 RS however is a different story)
997: porsche kinda nailed the good looks of the 993 with dynamics of the 996.
The 997 porsche will not be collectable but a keeper none the less if you like them, however the RS models will have an interesting life in the world of resale... they will probably be the only 997's trading hands in 20 years while other 997's sit parked undesired or scrapped.
The fact that Porsche still makes the RS almost each year dosnt help resale, but the fact that the colors are non repeating will make things interesting......
If i were you, id sell the 996 and get yourself a classic 1970's 911, and start daily driving the RS.

u know, that's what i have been thinking. RS is very common in nor cal. i do mean VERY. for that money, i can get a 3.2 or a 964 and back date to a ducktail and long nose hood.... now that would be RARE.
