FYI, http://www.hoosiertire.com/speccat.pdf Check out page 20. The section width of the 255/35-18 is wider than that of the 275/35-18!!! Yikes!!!!

We had issues fitting the 255/35-18s on a 997 GT3.

I didn't like the 35 series sidewall, I used them back to back 245/40-18 r6 and 245-40-18... With the 35 sidewall, the steering became so much more twitchy, turn in was sharper but a bit too much, def. needed to adjust driving a bit!

Thanks for the input. The steering is certainly fine with the 245/40 and very similar to the Nittos I was running earlier. I'm not sure I'd like to mess with that....I'm running my first solo 1 event on the Hoosiers this weekend so I'll get a comparison to the Nittos. I'm hoping to drop from 93 seconds to 91 or 90. The ultimate goal being sub 90 secs but I'll need some suspension work to do that. I've been chatting with VA122 about revalving the shocks and stiffer springs.

Default Hoosiers and Camber

The following set up has worked well for me over the last couple of years. The tire wear has been perfect in either DE or Racing, and I have run

Wheels CCW with GT3 Wheel Offsets
Front 8.5X18 C10 ET40
Rear 11X18 C10 ET63

Hoosier R6
Front P245/40ZR18 -3.5 Camber
Rear P295/30ZR18 -2.6 Camber

Alex what are you running for tire pressures?
I ran the Hoosiers at our local solo 1 event on the weekend and reduced my best lap time from 93.6 to 92.4 seconds. I had a lot of trouble getting the pressures correct as it was a warm day and the tires gained 12psi. I found anything over 40 the tires became very greasy and that around 38 seemed to be the sweet spot. Overall the car was faster but felt very loose, predictable handling but seemed to have more oversteer than with the Nittos. The tires now have 12 HC's, lots of rubber but don't feel firmly attached to the pavement.
I'm running -2.3 R and -2.9 F, wear appears to be very even.

Leigh have u thought of lowering pressures even more? I ran 31 hot all around on both Mpsc as well as kuhmos. I find nething over 36 it's not as grippy(it slides) Maybe try 34 hot. Mike

I'll try lower and see how it works as the car certainly did slide. We're off to Miller next week for a 3 day PCA event so I'll be able to do back to back with the Hooters and the Nittos at different pressures.

PLEASE DO< Farnbacher runs them at 32-35 on their Cayman S, and other customer car's that club race (I haven't so I cannot comment, I thought that would way way too soft/low but it seems is everyone is loving them lower... On the street I was driving around to my shop to find they were like 24-25 cold and they felt great opposed to running street pressures at 38-40 on the street for the day, so lower may be the ticket).. Spencer told me that's the sweet spot and they last longer.. Mine were done in 15 heat cycles (well done at like 10-11) if we are talking about optimal grip... They get chewed up way too fast with higher pressure and hot weather, especially on a rough track (like thunderbolt) which is like sandpaper on the tires with all of the turns...

All I know is, they drop off fast with higher pressure, and over 12 heat cycles, it sucks but you have to pay to play unfortunately.. The 8 seconds I dropped from toyo r888's to r6's back to back in the same day, speaks volumes, I was doing things I never imagined in the car , carrying out so much damn speed it was unbelievable!

Thanks for the advice. I'll try lower and report back.
