What is your opinion about this tires? Which would you buy in terms of:

-colder temp.
-warm up,
-driving in wet,
-driving in dry,
- durability.

I dont care about street driving, only competition. I have slicks and cups as well. I need tire with european dot.

R888s is one of the fastest tires to warm up the temperature. And, goes off if sessions are longer than 30 mins. I don't know Corsa would be the same.

 

Thanks, I know that there were lots of these topics but I could not find the certain answer.

Is it possible to fit larger r888 size for 996 gt3 body, e.g. 245/40/18(25,7) and 315/30 (25,5). I thought about 305/35/18 r but overall diameter is perhaps to tall 26,3?

888s have very square edges and don't like camber. I had fouling probs at the front on full lock and seemed to catch outside arch on a big bump too once. Explained the other points about them in the pm

 

I've never driven or tested an R888, so don't have an opinion.

 

thanks guys and Dan for pm. There are two opinions about the tires. Some like them and some hate them. My friend's sugestion always is, try it and you ll have your own. Different gums fit men in different way

 

FWIW, Pirelli Corsa is not a favorite on Ducati 1098 crowd who ran at Willow Springs in California Summer.

R888s

 

I ve just ordered r888. I will see...I need tires with dot eu which operate from the start and in lower temps. Stock sizes.

 

I liked them on my BMW, not sure what was meant by "they dont like camber", on my -3.2 BMW they wore evenly and turned in well with a smooth and progressive bite.

I will run NT01s on the next car simply because the R888 doesnt come in exactly the correct size I need.

I had great success with the R888's, they are very user-friendly and easy on the wallet. I'm going for another set this year. The first set lasted 10-12 track days, but the rears were done before the last day ended.

They don't like camber in the sense that the rear weight of a 911 destroys the shoulders and the tyres fall apart whilst the rest of the tread looks ok - dangerous + surprising. As to lasting 10-12 trackdays, that's more than twice as long as rears last if on the pace.

They are an ok tyre when learning, but once you get quicker the limitations become very obvious.

We race on the Toyo R888 in World Challenge Speed GT.

These tires are faster than the corsa when they are shaved.

They are very predictable as long as you have the set up for the tire correct.

Fabryce have you compared the pace to Michellin Pilot Sport Cups? Also interested in what kind of camber and hot pressures you are running if you are willing to share.
