Weird squeaking noise from engine

My '04 has developed a weird faint squeaking (or you could call it chirping) noise which is definitely associated with the engine (not the chassis) when I accelerate from low revs at medium to large throttle. After maybe 2500rpm the noise stops. (Possibly you can't hear it anymore because the engine is louder, but I do think it actually stops at the higher revs.) ![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)
It is NOT the pinging rattling sound associated with knocking, and I always use high-test gas.
Car has 40,000 miles.
Any ideas?

Going to say... sounded like belts as someone locally had that a while ago. I'd pretty much say change them on 04s or cars with 30 plus K on them now. Easy to do

I had a very loud chirp which started just at start up, and became more constant. It was due to a loose spark plug. It is worth checking that out, and the repair can require a new head, if the threads strip. We checked the serpentine belt first, and it was not the culprit, in my case.
