will buy 996 GT3
My first posting on Rennlist:
Next year I will become 40 and have decided to treat myself to a 996GT3. I bought my first Porsche in 10/2001, a boxster in lapis blue with tan interior. It has treated me well especially on the PCA autocrosses where I am typically in the top 30% raw time (stock with Toyo RA1). The Boxster has 26,000 miles and I plan to keep it for many more years.
Now it's time to start DE and I am looking for a 996GT3, preferably in red with black interior . I was planning to wait until next year, however I just noticed the following car for sale for just below $60k, which seems to be a good deal. The car seems pretty basic, which is fine for me. I would likely upgrade with the European GT3 seats pretty soon. VIN is WP0AC29994S692925. Any suggestions on the car??
Apperently the car is cameron red, which doesn't seem to be a standard colour. Does anyone have pics of two car next to each other, one in cameron red and the other in standard guards red?
Thanks,
John

Red w/black interior is the fastest.
Car looks to be guards red/black not Carmon Red. Carmon is like a cherry red metallic.
Do a search of Rennlist threads on "Luxury Motors". $60k seems like a great price. I'd get a mechanic you trust to do a PPI and get a Carfax. Trust not the dealer.

Carbon fiber shifter is cracked all the way around. Easy 10 minute replacement but make sure they replace it with a new one before they deliver it to you. Seems like a common area to crack

Welcome John!
As you will see, they are totally different colors (Carmon Red Metallic is like a burgundy), but I would choose it over Guards just because there were only a couple produced. I had my eye on this very car about a year and a half ago (highly optioned).

Crazy Canuck, thanks for the comment on "Luxury Motors" !!!! It took me several hours to review all the reporting on that company. The feedback appears to be pretty consistent, and I will probably have to think about this twice also given the reporting at BBB.
Best, John

Just to throw out another idea why don't you start your DE career with your Boxster. You might find that it is a great car on the track. Then after you gain some experience take the 3 out...

I have a 2007 Boxster S with some minor mods that was very consistence at our PCA autocross events, couldn’t come close to the GT3 times but held my own with all the 997 & 997 S and Caymans. The Boxster is a great car especial if you’re new and inexperience like I am. I’ll be driving my recently purchased GT3 next year but I not sure I want to sell the Boxster just yet as it is truly a great sports car for road touring.

You'll love the GT3! The car can be driven so quick in stock form (not sure how modded your boxster is) that you'll get addicted driving it. Just my 2 cents to a local guy.

Get a very thorough PPI when you buy from Luxury Motors. They do not have the best reputation. I wouldn't even consider a car from them even though they have a huge Porsche inventory.
