Default BBS LM or E88 for street use

well im finally down to getting some wheels. i was always leaving this to be the last job once id gone through the rest so i could enjoy them fully from a mental perspective atleast.

im decided on BBS but stuck between getting a set of E88 made up or going with the LMs. the E88 should be lighter and going cup car style with gold centers is appealing but i was wondering if anyone has any direct experience with regards to everyday street use with these. im going to be using my OEM wheels for track events. these are for lookers.

thoughts anyone? am i going to break E88s using them on regular roads, is the weight difference significant etc etc or should i just plump for the LMs and be done safe that i can change them easily in a year if a fancy a style makeover

I would NOT drive them (E88) on the streets. Very light and easily damaged from bad roads (potholes, etc). IMHO and I am sure others will agree that the E88 is track only wheel.

Default LM's

I got these a few weeks ago but have decided to wait until the spring to put them on the car. I would do LM's for the street and E88's for the track.

Tire Rack. The LM's are now available in the correct offset's for a 6GT3.

18x8.5 (f), $890 each, 22lbs
18x11 (r), $990 each, 24lbs

They also offer 19's for the 6GT3.

Neil,
My GT3 does double duty mostly as a street car, then track car (hopefully, with more time and better weather in the NW that will change next year). Currently, I run my E88's w/MPS for the street and have not had any durablity issues (cross my fingers, in the pothole streets of Seattle). And run MPSC on my stock rims.
Or you can be like PJS who now has a set of E88's and Fikse's to go with his stock rims! LOL...

I run E88's on my GT2 for street use and I have no problems at all. They are no softer than any other 3 piece wheel. If you are going to spend the money for LM's, do it right and get E88's.

No problem the E88 in the streets since they have the alu centers. After driving LMs on my daily driver for the last 5 years, I don't find them to be any special and would rather go with brombacher. Last time I bent an LM, I had to buy a 5th wheel since BBS wouldn't sell separate parts.

+1, I ran E88's on my Turbo for a year (strictly street) with no problems and the roads around here are pretty bad.

thanks for the replies guys.
im glad to hear that theres a few of you running e88s on the street without issue as this is the way i really want to go.
with the switch from magnesium to alu it seemed like they should be up to it but one never knows.

Most of our customers use the E88 wheels on the street.
