Default Knock off wheels new Porsche option

Maybe this is old news, but I was surprised to see at the LA Auto Show that Porsche is offering forged center locking wheels modeled after those on the RS Spyder as an option for the Turbo only.

Below are pictures and and note on the option list the wheels are for sale as "19" RS Spyder Wheels" for $3835.

Not what I would necessarily want on a Turbo Cabriolet, but they would be a nice touch on a future GT3 or GT2.

total waste of money in my opinion...I'd rather spend that towards the PCCB

Great idea, but I'm not sold on the execution. Maybe it looks better in person?

The parts look to be nicely finished and styled ala RS Spyder. Note that the nut has a 475 Nm torque setting etched into it (GT3 Cup is 460 Nm) and there is a vernier section at 7 o'clock in the photo that says 0....40°....100 Nm which is interesting.

Actually, when Porsche charges depending on model from $2385 - $2835 for the 19" Carrera Sport cast alloy wheels , I thought $3825 was not too out of line givin Porsche pricing for these forged alloy wheels with center lock hardware that presumably come with a trick torque wrench (the 959 came with a planetary gearset torque wrench) to install them. Generally forging saves around 5 to 8 pounds per wheel over cast construction too.

If the torque wrench and socket doesn't come with it you might be spending another grand to get it and I guess you'd have to keep it with you all the time...

I didn't go find a photo to compare, but those don't look even close to RS Spyder wheels (which are beautiful). I agree with CJ.
