Default Wheel Spacers

I wanted to add 5 or 7 mm spacers both F&R (just to bring the wheels out a bit more). Will I need extended studs for either?

the question you should be asking is how am I going to affect the handling by moving the tire centers outward 5mm to 7mm...and is it a strength issue...I wouldn't feel safe tracking with spacers, especially with R compounds....what are the wheel widths, offsets and tire widths?

Stock 6GT3 set-up. I don't track the car, but I love it anyways!

of course you do...what's not to love...if just for the street you could try it and see what it does to handling but without more negative camber you might get some rubbing at the top of the fenders under compression...5-7mm is not much (less than a third of an inch)...the bolts are probably long enough to reach but it could be a strength issue if not enough thread is screwed into the flange...you might check pelican or a few other vendors and see if you can get a set that are the same additional length as whatever spacer you use...some of the street guys go with 19" wheels/tires for the look but that would surely be more expensive than some spacers and lug bolts...good luck and lets see some before and after pics...

The Mk1 GT3 has 5mm spacers as standard from Porsche. There are special orange sleeved extended bolts that you must use.

You will need either extended bolts (like the ones that come in the 5mm OEM spacer kit) or you need to convert to studs.

I just don't understand why you want to move the track out when it is just about as far as it can be.

Because I can't leave well enough alone! I'm sure that you can relate. Do you feel that it will have a negative effect?

For the street? Not at all. And yes, I understand not leaving well enough alone

You need longer bolts. Standard part I ran OZ wheels which had the wrong offset by 4 mm for track. No issues. Don"t go past 5mm though.

And b/c of that, Joe (the new owner of my 3) loves that I couldn't leave well enough alone. Damn I miss that car

I use 5mm spacers. I had longer bolts but converted to studs a month ago.

I also use longer bolts with my 14mm and 7mm spacers but will soon move to studs or other wheels. The worst are the 7mm spacers cause they're not thick enough to have a lip on the hub to sit the wheel and not much left of stock one. So when you put the wheel on, it's really tricky cause all it wants to do is fall off.
