Ken, what did you say?

Yes, there has been an influx of new blood in the local PCA regions. They are still run by veterans and sometimes there is conflict. Nothing that a gentle discussion in the paddock could put to rest.

You are right that the faster drivers have expanded their driving to include other clubs that offer wheel to wheel racing.

i've heard of those "back in the day" stories from GGR old timers. i was told that's why they got rid of open passing in the red group.

OK, to address everything at once.........

I'm sure I've known John longer than all of you guys put together.....about 7 years now? He had a MIATA when he first showed up!

Who you call "old timers" in GGR circles most likely were still probably 20 years from hitting the track when I first showed up in 1980. The next crop when I got into things in the early-90's started racing in the mid-'90's when the first club races were held. (I had to hold off some getting back into wheel-to-wheel for a few more years as I was building a business.) Then Masuo and Jeff ditched PCA club racing and got PRC off the ground. Rest is history there.

We did have informal open passing starting in maybe '96 (?). I forget who was chair when we crept that way. I started a class for what was kind of ITE for 911's. Anything goes as long as it had a license plate (or could be), no slicks. Just a simpler/old school version of what John tells me you guys are doing now. From my 3.5L '74 chassis track rat to some (then) new high $$$ RS America club racers. Probably one step below bump drafting, as far as running close. ZERO PROBLEMS OR INCIDENTS. Masuo's years running the show certainly were the best.

Happy to expand on this if you want, or bury it if it's too painful! In any case, yesterday and our open track event was great. Except for the yellow car coming up lame just when I was going to run toe-to-to with John! About 200 miles in all the cars. Totally stiff neck from 2.5g cornering in the Radical. Even some fun (albeit slooooooow) racing with the SM's.

the meatball was before that. i technically had 2 brake lights, the middle and the left so they cleared me for the next session.
I over shot that turn, actually a lot of them, quite a bit. Did you spin or understeer off?

i must be getting a better launch out of the corner. being 300 pounds lighter helps too.
Whoa, 300lbs?! What does the car tip the scale at now?
