Why do people post other peoples crashes on the internet? What purpose does it serve? If it's not the person who was actually involved and wants to post it himself, I can see no good coming from this. I would say this should be removed by the moderator

While I agree you can learn from an incident.....I find it in VERY poor taste to post a video of somebody else's wreck. Just very tacky and a lack of proper etiquette in this tracking fraternity. Now if the driver posted express permission then fine.

**just a guess** From the track layout (I have never driver Summit) it looks as though maybe the rear was sliding and a throttle lift after a correction just made it worse. You have to either commit to power through or two feet in the sucker.

I know, but this particular video has the car so far out ahead that you really can't see how it happened. I'm all for review so that we can avoid mistakes, but this video doesn't really show much.

This is not directed at you, but rather the person who posted this (TonyP) from his on board camera. If the driver of the GT3 is so inclined to come on and say what happened so we all might learn from it, that would be great. From the video, all we can do is possibly identify who owns the GT3 when it passes by the car.

I was there. Pretty crazy but things could have been worst. Another 996GT3 (not me) went off 4 wheels near there on sunday but no damage. I was worried that I might be the next one so left early on Sunday.

That turn is like VIR turn 10 but less elevation change and faster. Too much throttle thru the turn and rear end steps out. Going in too fast, you feel you will run out of road and as soon as you lift, rear end go fricken crazy. Only him and the instructor riding along know what exactly happened. I didn't talk to the driver much after the accident as I feel really sorry for him. He's my pit buddy and we had quite a few events together since last year.

Yea, I know the owner. We pit together all the time. It's very sad to see that won't be happening anytime soon again. He's really nice guy and on this board. Read my last post about the turn. I don't have as much safety equipment as he does so it would have been a different story if it were me. That's why I was so worried and ended the weekend short.

I agree that's it tacky to post another person's crash, but it's also helpful to understand the risks of our little hobby. Thankfully the driver and passenger were not harmed. Lots of people think that they are Michael Schumacher and drive way beyond their limits and usually bad things happen soon after.

Don't brake until the car is straight when exiting turn four. If you carry too much speed, drive straight through the dirt and grass.

If you're carry too much speed, "driving straight through the dirt and grass" without lifting is kinda hard thing to do in real life, Jon. So, usually that thought comes to mind after you lift which that point is too late.
