Might want to check the US dollar vs. Canadian...that logic makes no sense except for a short period in mid 2007..it would be more expensive for canadians, not cheaper...maybe cheaper for the rest of the world besides canada and south america...lol

Example: 2008 Turbo Cab - List price in Canada is $C 171k; List price in the US is $US 136.5k. Last time I checked USD=CAD roughly, so that's a huge difference.

Makes sense, my statement was comparing apples to apples based on same msrp or pricing, I didn't realize there was such a msrp discrepancy between the two countries..I know lots of foreigners are buying up our cheap real estate because of falling markets and their strong $ compared to the US $..

I bought my 996 3 a year ago from a US dealer that is 30 minutes from the Canadian border... when I was negotiating the price... they said that for my initial offer, they could sell it for more to a Canadian dealer...
I asked if they did a brisk business with Canadians -- yes was the reply... Canadian individuals and Canadian delaerships... in fact that is why they did not have a lot of used cars... Canadians and Canadian dealers were buying them up at retail US pricing.
I asked how this benefitted their service department since they were shipping their service base out of their territory... he said it does not help at all but they also sell Audis and Jeeps... they are pretty remote (Roger Jobs Porsche in Bellingham, WA).
In fact my salesman was juggling the paperwork from my deal for a 996 3 and a Canadian fellows paperwork for a 996 TT X50 at the same time... both cars were there for less than 2 weeks.

That's what I offered them for that very car. They declined. A friend of mine offered $87,900 a short time after that but I guess they passed on that as well. My salesman told me another salesman had a client with an offer of $95k on the table. I told him that guy had more money than sense. The exhaust on the car is pretty awesome. Definitely the best pre-owned car that I've ever seen. I'm with CJ - cobalt rocks.

I recently purchased a 2005 996GT3 from a US dealer with 18k miles and CPO for just under 74k. Full leather, litronics, deviated stitching etc so nicely optioned. As a Canadian it's very nice to finally have an on-par dollar although we still have 6.1% duty plus 5% GST when it crosses the border. At the time of purchase I could only find 3 996 GT3s for sale in Canada all of which were priced far higher than this Cobalt Blue GT3.....I agree that Cobalt rocks; especially on Caymans!

That car is simply HAWT! The cobalt rocks ... (almost as much as the carrara white) ... and I bet if they can afford to hold out ... they will find someone willing to part with 94 large. ![popcorn](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/popcorn.gif)

I initially offered $80k for that car and then went up to $85k and they still shut me down. Besides the color, it's not heavily optioned. The original MSRP was $112K, I think my offer was fairly strong considering the thing will be out of warranty soon and it's 4 years old. Oh well, I'm sure somebody will buy it...but man, that's expensive. I've since found another one with the same miles, $28k extra in factroy options for over $10k less! They are definitely in GT2 territory with their pricing.
