Has anybody heard of this outfit? They make some incredible batteries that weigh only four pounds. A buddy of mine has one is his 997 TT and uses it for a daily driver and has had no problems. www.voltphreaks.com
The down side is they cost 499.00.

I've read about them many times and have been tempted to buy one. I know of a few BMW guys who have them in dedicated race cars and they say the battery works great.

There's a huge thread on this in 964 started by the famous Bob Linton. It will work, but the return for the $$, you won't really benefit from the weight savings. I have gone through the same issue and will probably go w/something with more AHR. Know that you can kill a voltphreaks battery and then game over...you're out the $$.

Some would say infamous. Notwithstanding, with some caveats, particularly relating to the need to be careful not to overcharge or undercharge, the nanophosphate lithium ion batteries are an excellent way to save weight -- and even at $1000 for the 18 Ah 6 pound model, the weight savings per pound can be justified in certain vehicles. Having said that, if you have a 5000 pound street car, taking 50 pounds of weight off will have little or no effect. On the other hand, if you have a GT3/RS, GT2, etc. and are seeking to optimize performance, this type of battery might well be worth it.
