Default das bar install questions

Bar in and pretty straight forward. I was amazed I could get it in there by myself but mission accomplished.
My question is how have you guys handled the rear carpet trim piece?
Cut it? if so with what and holes through it or slice it so it can slide on?
Thanks

I haven't figured out what I'm going to do, but first remember how much that piece of carpet is. If you're going to return your car to stock when you sell it, it will cost around $400.00 to replace that piece.

Remove it and cover with a piece of black felt. You will hardly notice it except for the missing GT3 logo.

If I was going to do it, I would cut two slits in the carpet. One on each side. Some of the padding/foam underneath may have to be removed as well?

I just went through this recently because my local dealer wanted $480 (Canadian) for a new carpet piece. Sorry, no construction pics, but I made a lightweight shelf from baltic birch plywood (flat part on top and a front vertical part) with some thin foam glued to the underside of the top piece of wood (since it rests on the metal plates in the car and the foam stops it from vibrating) and covered in carpet. The carpet was slit to fit around the bar and fits quite well.

The carpet I had was from an old car project and doesn't quite match the GT3 carpet, but it works for me. This pic shows the contrast more than a casual glance does in person because it's fairly dark back there.

Cheers,
