i have been a pagid compound guy for the last 5 years,,, but trying something new to me .... i used the the pfc 01 's but is this the right compound for tracks like VIR ??? i went through the pads pretty quickly on the front ...
my old set up was pagid yellow up front and blacks in the rear... but new rotors limit me to the use of pfc compounds ... any advice?

Yup get the PFC and don't look back. You will love them at VIR.

Matt, I run the PFC pad (99% of track days are at VIR as you know) and absolutely love it! I rant he Pagid for a while and then decided to try the PFC setup and NEVER looked back. Once you get them to their sweet spot for temp they stop like the "Hand of God"! I preferred the 01 over the 97 but they are a bit rougher on rotors. Give Greg a call as he will be able to hook you up with PFC.

I tried the PFC 97 this weekend, and they weren't stopping me very well. They were new, on new PFC 2 piece rotors. I've been using Pagid Blacks, and really liked them. How long does it take them to bed? I have a smear of pad on my front PFC rotors, and hoping they will improve. The rears look shiny. Unfortunately, I also have 97s in the rear, and understand the best set up is 01s in the rear. I'll be at Mid Ohio this weekend, so I'll soon see.

Matt,

You burned through the front pads, eh??? The fact of the matter is that you are F-L-Y-I-N-G in a 3200# Rocketship. At 160+ down the straights... you gotta stop somehow!!!

Out of curiosity, how did the rear pads wear?

You don't need to bed PFC pads.

Because he's using the PFC rotors.

Us poor bastards using Cup rotors have to bed them in.

Rob, I have used PFC with both Cup rotors and now PFC direct-drive 2-piece rotors and what I understsood was the PAD did not need to be bed in regardless of rotor. I saw NO ill effects with that thinking on either type of rotor.

Same here (compared to PCCBs), Chuck. I think I even mentioned that to Rob. Gonna try 01 pads all around soon. Right now is 97 fronts and 01 rears. But, 97s are suppose to last longer than 01s even though initial torque/bite isn't good. That's what PFC website is saying anyway.

P.S- Can't wait to see you again at VIR, Chuck.

I didn't try the 97/01 combo but rather 01 all around. Anybody that has ridden with me can testify to the stopping power of that combo!

Argh! Where's the perfect pad? I want a pad that works right away and works well on the track too. I do a ton of autox as well as track days and often these are back-to-back and on a Sunday night after an autox I can feel pretty lazy and won't want to mess with my brakes for a Monday track day.

Hmmmm......
