Used to ride my bike while in ninth or tenth grade about 15 miles to the little foreign car dealership that carried a few Porsches. Sat in a Pumpkin '68 911. Kinda like that Porsche commercial coupla years ago. Subscribed to Car & Driver since 1967. Read all about Porsche and Ferrari. Probably helped carry me to med school.

I remember the comparisons when I was a kid between Ferrari's and Porsches. Here we are in 2008 and all I see are Porsche comparisions with Nissans (350Z, GTR)?

What is silly is, people "read" about cars. It is like watching Fishing on TV; who the hell cares how big of a catch you see on TV?
P.S. A $25 Casio keeps the time 10,000 times better than a full mechanical watch. Who the fu@k cares about the differences between the two? Yes; the Casio crowd.

I don't know if I quite follow you, but most of us will not be able to drive every car, especially on track, that is out on the market, therefore we read about what others who are qualified drivers have to say.
From reading about this latest comparision on the GTR, 911TT and Z06 at Buttonwillow, it makes great sense to me as I've personally driven configuration #13 and know exactly what they are telling me in the article.

Funny story: Shortly after I bought my 996(2000 C2) my wife's friend, who owned a 350Z at the time, came to our house for a visit. She entered our house through the garage and in the process passed my P-Car. I was in the Dining Room at the time and seeing me, she yelled in to me "I like your new car". I then heard her say to my wife "I THINK I like it better than my car". I tried very hard not to laugh out loud even though I found this comment quite hilarious.
Moral of the story: apparently some chicks really dig the Z car, or perhaps they just aren't that into P-Cars. Either way it's one more thing I simply do not understand about women.
Maybe the OP is a chick?

The title including a "vs." implies a competition, there really isn't any between the two cars...
I use to have a guy at work who always made fun of me for paying $100G's more for my 996 turbo than he did for his Subura STi and with a chuckle he would say "we get the same performance".
Well I never said anything out of kindness, but I always thought in my mind with a chuckle, I have the pleasure to get in a Porsche every morning and you get in a Subaru..my money was well spent..

I remember when I was stationed at 29 Palm's CA. A Gunny friend of mine pulled up on his BMW motorcycle. A guy asked him what it cost and gunny told him. The guy said" I could buy 3 Hondas for the same price". Gunny said " Yea, and you would have 3 Honda's"

A lot of postings talk about all the way Nisson could cheat in a comparison.
; old street tires on the Porsche, new hoosiers on the GTR. Or the classic never been aligned or cornerbalanced GT3 vs. the TRD prepped GTR. I do not
live in So. Cal. The GTR that is is beating vettes and 911 turbos came loaded for a fight. Buttonwillow drivers, What is the real truth?
