Cup shift Cable installed?

I've been asking about this. Apparently it feels a lot better but I've just discovered it adds an extra noise in the cabin. Now trying to establish how loud/irritating this is.

Dan - Get back on Pistonheads!
I tried a short shift (B&M) and found it a real pain.... Too tight, easy to miss a shift etc, so I decided to swap back to stock. Then a mate had the cup cables fitted and it felt superb....
So I had them fitted and it is so precise with such snap centering it is the best mod I have done.
Dan's point about noise is something I hadn't even thought about as I had also fitted new steel synchros and the cup R&P at the same time so which bit is creating the additional noise I cannot say. It may not be the cables for all I know....
If you know what a full on cup sounds like in the geartrain dept. it is nothing near as loud but it does have a bit of a whine. But I actually love it!

lol. Too many forums. Got threads on this on titanic and PGT as well!
The noise I've had described is more of an amplified LWF noise in the cabin when idling. Not sure its that noticeable when driving at moderate throttle+. It definitely isn't a whine so that may be the cup R&P. doh!

Got the R&P 8:32 from Porsche Motorsport last year, fantastic, especially at the Ring.
Will prob. do the cables, a friend of mine is in the middle of a € 4K transmission mod, incl the cables so we'll see.

I've decided to do the cables on mine. Cup R&P on the cards too depending on if the synchros feel like they could do with a refresh once I've got the feel from the cup cable.
I spoke to a very fussy friend who drove a car with this cable and he didn't notice the noise so I'm sure it won't bother me. Very pricey though for what it is.

my friend installed kit with cup cable- no noise at all. Only tic, tic when you change the gears. No disadvantage.
I've read in the new 911 Porsche World that the one of very often problems is quick lsd's wearing out. This is true. I discovered it last month. after 45k km my was kaput. I ve installed cup LSD and I'm looking for spring

Me too! Its pretty expensive over here as apparently its not just the cable, but all the bushings and mounts etc too.
I've also got the 997 shifter coming.
Depending on how the car feels with this lot, I may get the final drive, but only if the box needs opening up for a synchro etc, which I suspect isn't the case.
