Default Anyone know this Gt2 in L.A., CA?

Found this 2002 GT2 at a auction yard. Anyone know this car? There doesn't appear to be any physical damage, but might have some mechanical. Looking to make this a 100% track car so I don't care if the title is salvaged. Any help would be great.

didn't GT2s come with ceramic brakes standard? Unless those calipers are painted, they are not ceramic brakes. And they look a little small, too. sure it is not just a body kit?

I am sure someone more knowledgable than me will chime in.

It is a modified 2002+ 996 Turbo. It has a sunroof.

The front/rear bumper are not OEM, side skirt are not OEM either. The cheap wheels are the heaviest SSR ever made. Brakes are standard 996TT. It really looks in bad shape.

Assuming it is in decent mechanical shape, I would not pay more than $50k for it.

I am sure the car has sat for a few months, but am puzzled why a $100K car with no physical damage is at a salvage car auction. I wanted to find out if anyone on Rennlist or if the PO is a Rennlist member to give me any insights on the car before I fly down there to check the car out. I called the auction and they tell me it runs, but for how long and how good it runs is the question. The auction cannot tell me much anything except to bring a mechanic, which I will. Someone on Rennlist must know this car, insights please.

NJ-GT, your first sentence flew over my head. So your saying its a turbo, because GT2's did not have a sunroof option. Thanks, I'll look into it more and let everyone know.

I went back to see the pics and notice that the car has rear seats. I never saw a GT2 with rear seats, but could it been an option?

everything about that car screams "I'm not a GT2"..what makes you think it is...is it being touted as such by the seller? btw...the best way to get a track car that will never be quite right is to start with a salvage car...unless you have chassis expertise and the proper equipment to straighten a car that has been "tweaked" I would go another route....there are plenty of low priced turbos and C2s' that would make great track toys with a few mods...good luck

Got to agree with the guys here...that's not a GT2...

If you can get the rest of the vin# you'll get some piece of mind on it.

For the right price and if its not a complete POS, you can make it into a GT2 clone....if its for the track, what do you care if its a 2 or not?....you can certainly pull the front drive w/little effort...then get all the other mods done...get rid of that awful sun roof...,etc etc etc...

Good luck.

Thanks Guys, Sometimes if not all the time I let me emotions get the best of me. Especially if I see something for nothing. In my mind, I have already bought the car for $40K and then I would put $10-20K back into it. Deals like what I thought this one was are far and few. Now that I know it's a turbo it was not much of a deal. I see 01-02 turbos in the $47-55 all the time. Thanks again for stopping me in buying nightmare.

Not a GT2

Missing PCCB's, and sport seats

Has sunroof, steel brakes, rear seats, standard front seats. None of which are on a proper GT2.

So why is it at a salvage yard. Could be a flood car.

Those not SSR wheels. The look like HRE or I-Forged
